Alice
A week passed without any new news on my parents. I stayed far away from Cruella. She had her side of town, I had mine and we avoided each other like the plague.
In that time I continued working at Granny's and was just about to leave for my date with Jefferson when Ruby appeared.
"Hey! I thought you got Saturday nights off." I teased as I hung up my apron and grabbed my bag. "I am, but I wanted to show you something...it's a surprise!" she said, smiling a wide smile.
"Okay, here I am." "N-No like you have to come with me." I checked my watch: I still had thirty minutes before I was supposed to meet Jefferson at Tony's. "Okay, but make it quick."
A slight snow flurry had started up as we raced won the road. Ruby's car didn't have heat, so I shivered into the light jacket I had borrowed from her. She turned into a random driveway and parked the car.
"Where are we?" I asked, glancing out at a dark house. "You don't recognize it?" I shrugged. "This is the house I took you to when you first came here."
Realization crept over me as I took in the familiar structure. "Cool...but why are we here in the now?"
"Well...I was able to pull some strings...I'll be working for the rest of my life...but I bought it." "What!?" I squealed and Ruby shushed me lovingly.
"I-I want you to stay with me. After all this stuff works through with Cruella." Ruby shuddered at her name. "What about Jefferson?" "Oh he'll be fine! We will have to have date nights with Victor and him." We sat in silence for a moment before I spoke.
"Ruby, Jefferson told me something about you." She perked up and watched me with her light gray eyes. "H-He told me you are-now this is crazy I know-a werewolf." The car grew eerily silent as my words bounced off the windshield and back at us. She nodded.
"He's right. I'm assuming you are not taking this very well." she said, meeting my eyes. "It's just hard, you know." She took my hand and smiled.
"I promise you Alice. You have nothing to fear from me." I returned her smile and she started the car. "I've got to get you to your date."
We drove until she dropped me off in front of Tony's. "Have fun...and watch out for The Hatter...be shame if he stuck you with his pin!" she screamed as she sped off down the road. I scoffed and shook my head. Ruby could be so crass.
Inside, the hostess took me to the table where Jefferson waited. When he saw me, he stood and extended my chair, something I was not used to at all.
"Thank you." I removed my jacket and revealed my sweater and skirt-the nicest outfit I had here. "You know that's the third time you've worn that sweater this week." he said jokingly. "I like this sweater." "I know, but you do need some new clothes..." "Jefferson, we talked about this." He held up his hands in surrender and smiled.
"So, where'd you go with Ruby?" I recounted to him what we had discussed as the waiter took our orders. "Wow, so now she thinks I'm gossiping about her." "She does not!" I said, gently slapping his arm. He feigned pain as a voice pulled us both away.
"Jefferson! How are you?" I turned to see the girl from the library...Belle was it? "I'm doing great, how are you?" She smiled, her light blue eyes lighting up. "Wonderful. You've met Alice haven't you?" I smiled and offered my hand. She took it and a shock was sent through me.
"Sorry, it's the static." I mumbled shyly. "Will." "Jefferson." The tightness between the two men could be sensed by both Belle and I, so we quickly said out goodbyes and they headed on.
