'She didn't know who would leave or who would stay, so she pushed them all away' - This has nothing to do with the story but here it is because I like it.

Pic is of Hazel Dominic

Ominiscient P.O.V

Hazel tapped her foot impatiently on the school floor, waiting for class to be over. The teacher explained the wonders of gel electrophoresis and time seemed to go by extra slow. As if each second felt like a minute and every minute felt like an hour.

It was almost the end of the day and Hazel wanted nothing more than for the day to be over.

She was extremely exhausted and her parents screaming at each other the night before didn't help her sleep. When she woke up this morning she had found out that her dad had left early for a business trip. Hazel was happy that her father left early, now she could be relaxed at home.

Her ribs still hurt from their last encounter and she had coughed up a little blood. She didn't tell anyone. Instead Hazel just took painkillers and pretended that everything was okay.

With the pain dulled she could do her normal everyday things.

"Are you alright?"

Hazel turned her eyes towards her lab partner. She had strawberry blonde hair and bright blue eyes. Her name was Dianne.

Hazel smiled and answered, "I'm fine, just tired."

Dianne smiled and nodded, understanding that hard life of a teenager. Not to mention the fact that The Chase was tomorrow, obviously stressing all of the young she-wolves in the school. It wouldn't just be their pack at the Chase, it would be all of the packs in the state of Washington.

"Are you ready for tomorrow?" Dianne asked.

"Is anyone ready?" Hazel replied with a small chuckle.

"True that." answered the beautiful blonde while she packed up her books.

The bell finally rang and the two girls said their goodbyes and also wished each other good luck.

Hazel speed walked to her house and practically collapsed on the bed. The day had been more than rough. Her painkillers had worn off half way through the day and she hadn't packed any extras.

Hazel closed her eyes and tried to forget the smell of alcohol reeking from his breath, the look of disappointment and fatigue plastered on his face.

It scared her. It scared her how just after a couple years and one mistake her life was never the same.

Also adding to her worries the Chase was tomorrow. She would have to run for her life if she didn't want a mate and as if the cherry on top Alpha Kaden Scott was also participating.

He was 28 and it was rumored that he didn't want a mate and only came because it was mandatory. However, since he only had two years left to find a mate he would actually try.

Hazel hoped desperately that she wouldn't be his mate. Even though his pack was strong and extremely well respected he himself was a rather harsh individual. They called him 'Killer Kaden' for a reason. He would get angry very easily and had very interesting ways of showing discipline.

However his pack loved him. So in some twisted way he earned respect instead of instilled fear.

Still she was going to run like hell tomorrow.

Hazel was going to take her painkillers and remember all of her training. She believed she could make it, for she was the second fastest she wolf in the pack. Second after the beta's daughter who had already found her mate, so she wouldn't be participating.

She took a deep breath and decided to finish her homework.

After she finished, she ate dinner and then proceeded to take a shower. Hazel closed her eyes and let the scalding water cascade over her svelte(Athletic but still slim) form.

She would run like never before tomorrow. The Chase was 10 miles long and she could 20 in 30 minutes.

Hell would have to freeze over before she got caught.
