Omniscient P.O.V

Kass screamed bloody murder as she saw her friend tumble lifelessly down the stairs. She hit her head on the marble and blood slowly pooled from beneath her hair.

She rushed over to Hazel and knelt next to her. People were screaming and panicking. They were crowding around the two girls and soon medics came to put hazel on the a slab.

Kassandra cried as she followed them to the ambulance. She should have just gotten the bag herself. And Kaden? What would Kaden do?

Kass needed to tell him at some point. And Donovan should know too. But she wouldn't be able to answer all their questions. She didn't know who pushed Hazel or if she just fell.

Regardless, Kaden would be furious no matter what.

Kaden sat in the hospital room, head in hands. It was unusual to see an alpha in such a position, especially "Killer Kaden". But what was more surprising were the messy tears rolling down his face.

It had been two days. Two fucking days without his princess, his other half. He couldn't stand it. He needed her, awake and present in his life.

Kaden heard a shuffle and his snapped towards Hazel. But she remained still and motionless.

Donovan opened the hospital room door followed by Kass. A look of worry in both their faces.

"How is she?" Donovan asked.

"The same," Kaden gritted out.

Kass sniffled and they both looked towards her.

"I'm sorry. This is all my fault," she cried.

Kaden had heard her apology and he had forgiven her, but she still continued to apologize.

"Kassandra, this is not your fault." Kaden assured for the what seemed like the hundredth time.

"Come on Kass. Le'ts leave them together and get some food. We'll come back later okay?" Donovan coaxed, gently grabbing both her shoulders.

She silently nodded her head in submission and Donovan looked back at Kaden, "we'll get you something."

Kaden smiled, grateful for his friend.

They left and Kaden took out his phone, scrolling mindlessly. He went through his emails until a smell hit him.

The smell of a vampire.

He slowly looked up and his teeth gritted in frustration and anger.

"Are fucking kidding me. I saw you die. I watched the life drain from your eyes and now you have the audacity to fucking show up here!" Kaden yelled standing up.

Elijah sighed and put his hands up in surrender.

"I came to apologize." He said sincerely.

"Fuck you." Kaden spat out. It was taking all his self control not to rip off the blood sucker's head right then and there.

"Look, I'm trying to be civilized so could you not growl. We are around humans. It's not like you can actually do anything right now." Elijah reasoned.

Kaden took a deep breath. As much as he hated to admit it, Elijah was right. He slowly calmed down.

"What do you want?" Kaden asked.

"As I said before you so kindly went all werewolf on me, I came here to apologize." The vampire said calmly.

"For what? Faking your death and giving me false hope." Kaden muttered sarcastically.

Elijah sighed and gritted his teeth. He was still the same stubborn ass from when they were younger.

"I am applying behalf of my mate, Diane, who pushed your mate, Hazel, down the mall stairs."

Almost instantly, Kaden had Elijah pinned against the wall, slightly choking him.

"What," He seethed.

"I can't exactly explain if you're choking me." Elijah coughed.

Kaden scoffed and gritted his teeth, reluctantly letting him go.

"You know you really need to control your emotions pal," the vampire said, rubbing his neck.

"Don't push it."

"Anyway, my mate, Dianne pushed Hazel down the stairs. I didn't tell her to do it. She did it on her own free will." Elijah explained.

"How do I know you didn't tell her to do so?" Kaden questioned.

"Because I'm not stupid. You know me. Well at least you used to." He shrugged his shoulders.

"But vampires don't have mates." Kaden stated.

"But werewolves do."

"So, you are telling me that the Moon goddess paired a werewolf, with a vampire?" He asked

incredulously.

Elijah nodded his head, "It appears that way and she's not lying. There are sparks when we touch our hands." Elijah concluded.

Kaden soaked all the information in. It didn't make any sense. It was too much information all at once.

"Does Hazel know you're alive?"

"You know, honestly I have no idea."

Elijah looked at his watch and sucked in a deep breath.

"I have to go. Again I apologize." He nodded.

Kaden just stared and watched as he disappeared in a thick cloud of smoke.

He slowly sat back down and put his head back in his hands. Shit just got a whole lot more complicated.
