Omniscient P.O.V

Hazel stirred awake and the first thing she noticed was the moonlight pouring through the blinds. What happened? What time is it?

She looked up at the ceiling and noticed she wasn't in her room, but a hospital bed. She was wearing a cheap paper gown, lying on a hospital bed with white bandages wrapped around her head. What's going on?

Hazel couldn't remember anything. She didn't remember how she got to the a hospital or why she was even the hospital. But she did know one thing: that her head hurt like a bitch and there was a good reason bandages were around it.

She slowly sat up and checked her surroundings. That was when she finally noticed Kaden sleeping in the corner in a very uncomfortable looking chair.

She climbed off the bed and quietly went to the bathroom. Hazel closed the door and looked at herself in the mirror. Only one word came to mind when she looked at herself: yikes. She undressed and turned on the shower.

***

Kaden awake to the sound of water, a shower. He grunted and stood up from the hard leather chair. He stretched and cringed when he heard his back crack. He then looked at the bed and panicked. Where was she?

Kaden looked towards the bathroom and noticed the water had turned off. The doorknob began to jiggled and he sighed in relief when Hazel opened it. He walked towards her and hugged her.

Hazel hugged him back. She missed this. She didn't know how long she was asleep for, but it felt like an eternity. Hazel breathed his in his masculine scent and her eyes started to water. She had missed his so much.

"Baby you scared me so much, don't do that me." he whispered in her damp hair.

He pulled back and kissed her.

"Kaden," she whimpered.

"What is it princess?" he asked concerned.

"What happened?"

He pulled back and stared at her with furrowed eyebrows.

"You mean, you don't remember what happened to you? Why you're here?" he asked quizzically.

She nodded.

"Well how much do you remember?"

"I remember Kassandra wondering where her bag was and then I just woke up right now." she whispered.

"I see."

"Will you tell me what happened?" Hazel begged.

Kaden looked at his watch, "No. Not right now princess. It's late."

"Bu-"

"No buts. You and I both need to rest." he ended the argument that was about to start.

She sighed and got back to bed and he got back to his chair.

"Wait Kaden, I-I want you to hold me." Hazel looked down and fiddled with her thumbs, embarrassed.

She felt a dip in the small bed and looked to her right. Kaden slowly got in and laid down next to her. They faced each other and Kaden pulled his baby girl close to chest. Hazel cuddled into his arms and closed her eyes.

Kaden kissed her forehead, "goodnight princess."

***

Hazel woke up first. She guesses she never really went to sleep. The curiosity was too much so she waited until it was a reasonable time to wake Kaden up and that time was now.

"Kaden," she nudged him.

He groaned and turned the other way.

"Kaden," she said a bit more forcefully.

"What baby? It's so early." he grunted.

"Tell me what happened." Hazel urged.

"It's six in the morning."

"You normally get up at five." she countered.

"Touche."

Kaden sat up and looked at Hazel. He sighed and asked her, "how much do you remember again?"

"Kass was wondering where her bag was and then I woke up here." she shrugged her shoulders.

"Okay well first things first, you were asleep for two days, not counting today," Kaden muttered.

Hazel just stared at him, waiting for more information. He sighed as he began to tell everything.

"So Dianne pushed me down the stairs because she's jealous?"

"Yes."

"And she's jealous because she's Elijah's mate? And Elijah is alive?"

"Yep."

"Huh." she absorbed all the information.

Kaden's eyebrows furrowed. Something didn't really add up.

"You know, you didn't really seem surprised when I told you Elijah was alive," Kaden started.

Shit. Hazel thought.

"W-well you know, he, he's a vampire a-and and ti-,"

"Hazel, did you know Elijah was alive?" Kaden stared her down.

"Yes," she sighed.

His fist clenched and his teeth gritted.

"Why would you keep something like that from me?" he asked trying to keep calm, but the anger was rising in him rapidly.

Hazel saw what was happening and started to tear up. She was annoyed with herself for being so emotional all the time and she tried to stop it but she couldn't. Fear that he would hit her again slowly rose in her mind.

"I-I received a letter from Marcus and he told me that Elijah was alive and I didn't tell you because I thought telling you would put you in danger an-"

Kaden sighed as she rambled on, the anger fading from his body. He knew that she was scared of him in that moment. He also know that in that moment she was telling the truth and he was about to get mad at her for possibly keeping him safe.

Goddess he loved her so much.

"Hazel, that's enough." he cut her off.

She was shocked by the calmness of his tone.

"You're not mad?" she asked. Hazel swallowed down the tears that had threatened to fall just moments ago.

"I could never be mad at you princess." he hugged her.
