I opened my eyes.

Why wasn't I dead? I thought to myself. I should be dead.

I was in a hospital. I saw the clinic white walls. The smell of cleaning products mixed with rubbing alcohol was pungent.

I looked to my left and saw a window with its blinds shut. On the right of me was a sleeping Matt.

He has always been with me. He stayed by my side every second I've been in hospital.

He tried his hardest to protect me. Even from myself. I am my own greatest enemy.

I wanted to yell at him, to get security to kick him out, to hold him and to thank him.

I was a confused mess. What do I do? I need to accept Matt's help but it is so hard when I am so use to being on my own and defending myself.

I remembered about my arm. I looked at it. It was bandaged up. I wriggled my fingers and a breath of relief came out of me when they budged.

I tapped one foot against the other and felt them. I can move. I looked back at Matt. My head is so sore.

Why is it so sore? The light was hurting my eyes. I closed my eyes and the pain dulled.

I must have drifted back asleep because the next time I opened my eyes, Matt was gone. I looked at my window. The blind was open and I could see the dull grey sky.

"You're awake!" I heard. I rolled my head to the door then back at the window.

"Thank goodness. You had me concerned." Matt sat down and took my hand. I slipped mine out of his without a second glance.

He had crossed the line this time. "The doctor shall be in soon." Matt told me but I ignored him.

How could he betray me like this? He lied to me. I'll always be on the run. I'll never settle down, marry someone and have kids.

I was starting to consider Matt. His tall, handsome, good genes. But I'm still married. I can never escape Kaydan. He will never allow me to divorce him willingly.

Then a doctor arrived. He checked me over, made sure everything is well.

I listened with a bored face. "When can I leave?"

The doctor was taken aback. "Um, in a few days." He smiled. I saw the look Matt gave the doctor and I flashed a large grin at him. "Thank you doctor. You have been so helpful." Yes there was a sarcastic tone in there.

After the doctor left, I rolled back towards the window. I felt Matt's hand on my shoulder and I shrugged it away.

I just laid there for a couple hours, watching the rain fall.

My dinner was served and I looked at it and turned away.

"Are you going to say anything?" I finally muttered to Matt. I felt his stare on my back.

"No."

No? No lecture or anything? I thought to myself.

I didn't say any more and dozed back to sleep from boredom.

When I woke, I rolled over and saw Matt gone. Then I looked up when I heard a soft knock. A smile appeared on my face.

"Hey Bella Boo."

Lucas stood there with a huge bouquet of flowers and a few helium balloons.

He gingerly stepped in to the room and I watched as he placed them down to where a giant teddy was. How did I not notice that before?
