MATT
Finally, the doctor agreed for Belle to be released the next day.
I was away all day from her and when she rang saying she was free to go, I ran to the car and drove the ten minutes to the hospital.
I pushed Belle in a wheelchair to the entrance and we walked from there.
I slipped my hand in hers and she looked at me. Her face soft and peaceful. I opened the door of the car for her and when I got in I drove her home.
Home. It felt so right saying that about my mansion. It never really felt like a home till Belle was there.
I drove up the drive way but instead of parking where I usually do, I drove down the side of the house to the cabin.
"What are you doing?" I heard her ask. But I didn't answer as I opened the door of the car for her. As soon as Belle stood up, I swept her into my arms. She squealed in surprise and wrapped her arms around my neck.
"I can walk." She defiantly pointed out. I opened the cabin door and Belle gasped.
She squirmed to be put down and I obeyed. She looked at the place. I had spent all day here doing it up. There was soft music playing, I left up the fairy lights, but as they twinkled, the candles dominated the lighting.
The aroma of vanilla and lavender was pleasant. There was a table set for two in the middle with more candles. And on the middle of the table was a huge tray.
I motioned for Belle to sit. I pulled the chair out and pushed her in. I went around to my seat and sat, lifting the tray lid. The aroma of a large roast pork took over.
"Yum!" Belle eyed the food of greedily as I placed the meat on her plate. I picked up a few roasted potatoes and baby carrots and placed them on her plate.
She dug in straight away. "Slow down." I laughed.
Belle glared at me. "You live on hospital food."
I smiled and sat. Lucas's was right, Belle does prefer the simple things. I shook my head as I picked up a carrot with my fingers and chewed on it.
I kept staring at Belle. Her red hair had faded a bit, her roots starting to show. Even though she was eating like she had never been feed, she was still graceful at it.
We ate with only small chatter. As much as I disagreed with her conditions, I needed to meet her half way. But tonight she is all mine. I'm keeping her away from the real world for tonight.
After we finished, I got Dana to clear the dishes.
"That was delicious." Belle groaned as she rubbed her stomach.
"You're welcome."
Belle looked at me. "Can you cook?"
I nodded. "I wish my mother taught me," I smiled at the memories. "But I took a cooking class a few years back now. I always wanted to open a restaurant."
Belle arched her eyebrow. "I don't know if you know, but you are owning the wrong business." She joked smiling at me.
I laughed. "Yes. It turns out I'm better at running a corporate business instead of a small business. Work that out."
Belle laughed. It sounded like angels. I would be more than happy to hear that laugh all day.
"What is so funny?"
"I always wanted to own my own bar."
"Great minds think alike." I smiled at her. Then Dana came in holding a smaller tray. "Dana however prepared dessert."
Belle turned to Dana and thanked her. "I don't know if I can fit any more food in."
I smiled and took the lid of the tray. When Belle saw the steaming chocolate pudding with caramel sauce her eyes widened. "Maybe I do have room." She whispered as she grabbed the fork.
I laughed at her actions. I have never seen her eat so much. Belle then froze and frowned. "Where's your piece?"
"Oh, Belle, we are going to share it."
Belle blushed. "I don't usually eat this much, but the food at the hospital is horrible."
"Its okay." I assured her. Belle only took two forkfuls and groaned. "I can't. I'm so full. But it's so good."
After we ate I suggested on watching a movie.
"Oh flix and chill." Belle narrowed her eyes playfully at me.
I nodded and grabbed her hand. I took her to the bedroom where there were more candles burning. There was a large bouquet of roses next to the bed. I picked up the remote and turned the TV on. I turned to Belle and kissed her forehead.
"Take a shower. There are some clothes in the bathroom for you. Take your time." I whispered as my kisses moved down her face and I placed the last one on her lips before turning away from her.
Belle obeyed and 15 minutes later, her hair in a high bun, walked out with a singlet on and long baggy pants.
" How did you know? " She asked as she pointed to the pants.
I shrugged. "I went straight to the most comfortable and worn down looking thing you owned." I then patted the bed and Belle sat next to me.
"What do you like?" I asked when I realised I didn't know.
I felt her shrug as I wrapped an arm around her and pulled her closer. "Anything will do."
After 5 minutes of flicking through the movie selections, I decided to settle on Marley and Me.
I felt Belle relax against me as she snuggled lower in to the bed.
"Thank you for dinner. Thank you for everything." She whispered to me. I gripped her tighter.
"I told you I plan on doing this the correct way, and I will." I kissed the top of her head. "Just give me time to adjust."
Belle giggled. "You're not use to asking are you?"
"No." I gritted out from my teeth. But if I plan on keeping Belle with me, I need to compromise.
We weren't even twenty minutes into the movie and I could feel Belle getting heavier against me.
"Belle?" I called her softly. A soft snore was the response I got. I laid her down properly and turned the TV off. I watched her face with the dancing light from the candles.
I placed a long but soft kiss on her lips. I need her in my life. She makes me a better person. I may have compromised with her, but I'm still a very selfish person. I plan on keeping her and never letting her go.
I know I need to work on her trusting me and getting her to love me. And as excruciating as it is, I need to do it slowly.
Belle fell asleep before I could give her the gift I brought her. I sighed and laid down next to her. I placed an arm around her waist, being careful of her bandaged wrist and held her tightly. She keeps me happy and that's all I need.
