Date time

As we pulled into the icecream parlor parking lot, I put my dog tags around my neck.

"So they did come in!" Autumn said.

"Yeah, I knew the envelope was to heavy to be just a letter." I responded.

She put the car in park and leaned over and took the dog tags in her hand and kissed them.

"So you always have one of my kisses with you!"

I smiled and grabbed her chin bringing her face to mine and gave her a kiss.

"Thank you baby"

We got out of the car and walked in to see Mikey already sitting at a table.

"Hey guys! Over here!" He yelled.

"You go ahead' Autumn said,' I have to go to the ladies room."

"Alright sweet pea, we will be over there," I said pointing towards the table, "what kind of ice cream do you want?"

She looked at the menu in front of her, "I don't care, surprise me!"

"Alright baby."

I walked over to Mikey and we did our hand shake and crap and sat down. After a little small talk Mikey asked

"So do you think she is the one?"

"I'm not sure but I've got something to talk to you about before she comes out."

"Alright, shoot!"

I started toying with my dog tags and Mikey knew right then what I was going to tell him.

"You applied for the army and you got early deployment, didn't you?" He said.

"Yeah, I have to be at the recruiters office May 3."

"Dude that's Saturday!"

"Yeah I know, I haven't told Autumn yet, man I'm in between a rock and a hard place, you know how much the army means to me! But I don't wanna leave Autumn, what am I going to do?!"

"We will talk about it later, here she comes, come to the house later to tonight." He said

"Aight" I responded.

As Autumn made her way towards us, Mikey quickly changed the subject and made it seem like we we're just talking about my enrollment and my acceptance and all of that.

"Autumn this is my best friend Mikey, Mikey this is my other half Autumn." I said introducing them.

"You got you a good one, bruh!" He said

Autumn turned blood red as Mikey kissed her knuckles.

"Hey man!! Easy now!" I said smacking his shoulder, "that's my girl your kissing!"

"Sorry man, just southern hospitality."

"I got you man, no hard feelings."

We all sat down and our ice cream came and we all had small talk about our lives but Mikey mainly asked Autumn questions that were irrelevant to life. As always, that was normal for him.

We got up to leave and Mikey gave Autumn a hug, since they had come pretty close to each other over the last hour. Mikey and Autumn had a lot in common, anyways that's besides the point. Mikey walked us to the car and i opened the door for Autumn and she crawled in.

"I'm gonna walk with Mikey to his car, I'll be back." I told her

"Alright sweetie."

Me and Mikey walked to his car and planned where we would meet later and talk abut my predicament.

"Do you remember how to get to my place?" He asked

"Yeah how could I forget, after the countless nights that I walked to your place after the wreck."

"Oh yeah, well you know where the key is, I'll leave the light on, just come by after she crashes and we will talk and figure something out."

"Aight man, see ya soon."

We did our hand shake and parted ways. I got in the car and we made our way to Autumn's house. As she drove, I toyed with the small back velvet box in the pocket of my shorts. Maybe tonight I would pop the question.
