Chapter 5 | Jughead |The Evidence That Shows | Part 1

The cops talked to me about the jacket. I had no idea she was a serpent.

"Jug did you know?" Archie asked me with a shook voice.

"No."

We all looked over at Tony.

"Did you know?"

"Yes."

My mouth opened but nothing came out except for.

"How dare you."

"Jug I'm sorry."

"No! She's gone, he took her! You knew her background! Something we need so bad right now and you don't care about telling the truth. A serpent could be behind this do you know that! I trusted you!"

I regretted saying I didn't trust her, she had fear and sadness on her face.

"I hope you find her. You know the serpents, I hope you have your suspects."

She just walked away. I just dropped my head down as she got on her motorcycle and pulled away.

"Jug she's not worth your time if she lies."

Betty said.

"I know, she's just wasting my sisters time."

They all started to hug me. I just stood there, fearing what could happen next. They started to dig through her bag more. Pulling out her keys to her house, some homework, and a photo, a photo of our whole family. Then they pulled out a Polaroid of her and my mom, right in front of their house; she had on the South side jacket. Then another photograph of her and her friends, she was on top of a table wearing her jacket along with the other South Siders. All the sudden I saw Betty get up.

"Where does Tony live?"

"Why?"

"If she kept secrets before she probably has more."

"Try South Side High, she goes there a lot."

Betty quickly pulled out her phone and ordered an Uber. After she waited for multiple minutes she climbed inside and pulled away. Then I heard more tires screech up against the rocks, Betty's mom popped out.

"Jughead! We need some info about your sister."

I looked at her quickly with anger.

"You bitch!"

"What'd you just say to me?"

"Don't you understand she could be dead? Get that in your head. I'm grieving over her possible death! So leave me alone because right now this isn't your story! It's my fears."

I walked away running through the door of Pops. I sat down at my casual booth and Pop came and sat across from me.

"I'm so sorry, you want a burger or something? You look like you need it."

"Yeah that would be good Pop."

I heard the chime of the bell and foot steps coming towards me. Veronica and Archie sat across me. As Pops left the booth.

"Hey Juggy. I totally agree with you she should've just left you alone." Veronica said.

"Thanks Veronica."

"So how we gonna find this son of a bitch?"

"Let's get talking around to the serpents."

"There's so many people out there though. Maybe she just had a rebel moment and became a serpent. Who knows if that's who it is."

"Good point. Betty said he had brown hair and eyes."

"That's a small amount of info, but let's make the best of it."

"We need weapons."

"I got a bat."

"Okay, that would be good for up close. Archie don't you still have that gun though?"

"I'm not giving you the gun."

"Why? This son of a bitch took her! You would do that for your father wouldn't you?"

"Jug, if I get in trouble that's different. But if she's alive she needs you, after all she's not safe with her mom. I can't stand to see her lose a brother because of something that doesn't have to happen."

He breathed deeply.

"I know how you feel right now. But just remember you get arrested she has no one."

"Yeah."

All the sudden I saw Betty run out of the car. She came running towards the door.

"She had more that she didn't say."

Her face was bloody from her nose dripping.

"Betty what did you do?"

"I ran in the school and found her in the cafeteria. I pounded on the table and told her to talk. She wouldn't so I smacked her and she socked me right in the face, but it's okay. I got her to talk when I shoved her to the ground and stepped on her stomach."

"Betty why? You didn't need to do that. Especially sense you got hurt."

"It doesn't matter, apparently Jellybean got kicked out of her old town and so your mom made them move and she became a serpent. Guess which one."

"What one?"

"She became as she said "The queen of younger serpents. It all happened when a high schooler with Brown hair and brown eyes shoved her to the ground for being bossy and she beat the crap out of him."

"We have a suspect."

"Yeah. How did you miss it all Jug?"

"I never really showed up to hang out with the younger ones."

"We'll go talk to the cops, Jug head home. Get some rest."

"I'm not leaving here until she comes back."

"Jug, that's rare."

"I don't care."

"Okay... You armed?"

Archie said scared.

"I haven't gone anywhere without a knife lately."

"Jug you're not going to going to kill him right?"

Betty said to me terrified.

"No I won't, I will hurt him if he hurts me though."

"Okay. Love you."

"Love you too."

I went and sat on the stoop.

I sat there alone. In all honesty I just didn't want to move out of fear. Time started to pass, it was soon midnight and my motorcycle started to reflect the night sky. I started to see smoke. Putting it off as nothing until I saw a figure start appearing. I looked closely, seeing Jellybean. I stood up having joy appear on my face. She had a stab wound but covered up. Walking towards her just a few meters away when I heard a loud bang. She fell to the ground and I came eyes to eyes with him, he was a fellow serpent. He beat the crap out of me and hated my guts. But he started to run, I couldn't leave. I ran over to her finding a shot right in her wind pipe; blood drenched my hands as I started to pick her up. I quickly pulled out my phone and dialed  Betty.

"Hey Jug? Everything okay?"

"She's not okay, call an ambulance please! I'm right outside of Pop's!"

"Okay, I'll call them. Stay calm Juggy; talk to her."

I hung up the phone and looked her in the eyes. It was too late. I felt her for a pulse, nothing, she was gone.

"Jellybean! No! No! Shit! No!"
