Chapter 8 | Jughead | Truth

The rustic old building losing its paint job and still bringing a smile to young serpents faces, they saw all their friends, and were laughing, little did they know a storm was rolling in. Anger and furry from my father pulling up.

"Jug! Why the hell wouldn't you call me and tell me that your sister was here! Especially when she gets kidnapped! Now my child is dead Jug! Dead!"

"Dad I'm sorry. But I knew I had to keep her a secret before the serpents surrounded her okay. After all she's your kid! Especially sense she turned out to be a serpent herself."

My dads facial expression changed backed to being normal.

"I know she was. She did a few months ago."

"Then don't yell at me if you keep that kind of secret."

I turned around from talking to my dad to see Tony and her friends all looking me dead in the eyes. The one person missing was Sweet Pea. I walked up to Tony.

"Betty said you know somethings. Tell me. Please."

"Jug I can't."

Tears started to fill my eyes.

"This is why I don't trust you anymore. Rather you tell me or I will never speak to you again."

Her face started to change to sadness.

"Okay Jug you want to know?"

"Yes."

"She's gone because I couldn't help her; okay Jug! She was one of my best friends and she's disappeared! I tried helping her for you but I lost her and possibly you! That's the truth Jughead! That's the cold dead truth!"

"What did she need help with?"

"What?!"

"What did she need help with so badly it killed her?"

"What?" She paused making tears start to run down her face.

"I'm so sorry I didn't call." My voice cracked.

"She's actually dead?"

"Yes I held her dead body in my arms after she ran down from escaping; and she got shot."

She just crouched down to the ground and covered her eyes. Soft weak like whimpers came from her. I bent down to her and hugged her tight.

"She didn't deserve this."

"Jug. I know who killed her."

I let her go and she tilted her head up.

"What?!"

My face turned from concern to anger.

"Who is it?"

"They don't have a name. They're just silent. Hidden. Now I have to follow their orders. That's the deal."

"What orders?"

"After she dies, if it was before she could fulfill her deal I would take her place."

"Why?"

"If I don't Jug, your mother will die."

My face went stone cold. I helped her to her feet and we went inside. Making our way through the entrance and to the cafeteria. Sweet Pea was in the corner laying back against the brick. I sat her down at the table and she looked me in the eyes.

"She joined the serpents to save your mom."

"Don't tell me she did it the way Betty did?"

"No she beat the crap out of our strongest teen member. Sweet Pea."

All the sudden Sweet Pea leaned up off the wall.

"Maybe she died because she was meant to. After all, she was not that strong just caught me off guard."

Blood started to heat up in my body. Looking into his brown eyes that spat out lies.

"What did you just say?"

"She's dead and it's good."

My body sprinted up and off the chair pushing him to the ground. All the sudden he kicked my knee cap making me fall to the ground. Then I started to crawl over to him beating the crap out of his face, but before the next punch he grabbed my fist and swung me to the ground. All the sudden we were near the wood floor, and he took a plastic knife and tried to stab it right into my eye, but I moved to quickly. My dad ran through grabbing him and pulling off of me. His eye was pitch black and the knife was stuck in between the rustic wooden floor boards. Tony ran over picking me up and putting me back on my feet.

"Holy shit! Damn he's never been this. violent. It's probably what happened between him and your sister."

"What?"

"They never got along."

"So they made her do a minor version of what I had to do."

"Yeah. It was terrifying but she did it for your mom."

"Is that why Jellybean mentioned my mom getting shot?"

"Yeah, shot her in the arm, so close to her body almost hitting her heart."

"My mom almost died?"

"Yeah. Jellybean saw everything. She got shot when she was picking her up from school. So many kids could've died that day."

"Wait why did Jellybean have to join. My mom could've gotten the money easily."

She breathed deeply.

"Because your mom never finished the deal, and the deal was rather she finishes it or Jellybean would have to join. Your mom wasn't as stable as you thought."

"So they made Jellybean make a deal that if she didn't carry through
she would go through worse and have someone else take her position?"

"I'm the someone else."

"Why? Why would you sign up for this?!"

"Because you already were going through enough. I knew if she died and the rest of your family died you probably wouldn't talk for months, so now it affects my family not yours."

"They're murderers by deals. You can't let this happen!"

"No you've been through to much Jug."

She walked away. Leaving me in shock and fear.
