It's Just a Yes or No Question

There was a long silence. The tension could have been sliced in two with a knife. King Dice stood flustered while the Devil waited patiently (...kinda) for Dice to reply.

"I-I'm sorry." The Devil suddenly added without thinking much. "It's a touchy subject I know- I'll just..." He paused for a long moment, King Dice's expression just gaining more surprise.

The Devil took a deep breath in, before turning to leave. His tail swishing sadly behind him. He took another long drag from his shortening cigar. "Goodnight, Dice."

Dice sputtered before reaching out to Devil. "W-wait!"

The devil paused, his ears perking up slightly. "What?" He grumbled in response, still not turning to look at him.

King Dice stuttered, clasping his hands together in hopes that he could stop stuttering and speak clearly. "I'm getting back foggy memories from before- you're a-asking me because I... I said it while I was drunk. Didn't I?"

The devil felt a dejected feeling growing in the pit of his stomach, taking a step closer to dice again. "...Yes." The Devil, feeling sad? Absurd! Absurd! If anything he'd just brush this off in the end, no big deal. It's just a dumb, stupid-

"Well, do you like me?" Dice suddenly cut into his thoughts, the apparent embarrassment only darkening on Dice's face when he looked at him.

The Devil pondered, his pupils narrowing at him for a moment. Dice shrunk under his glare, feeling nervous as the Devil didn't seem too snappy to answer.

"Why does that matter?" The Devil growled, leaning in close enough that he could even smell the Dice. Dice shuddered as he felt the hot breath near his face.

"You got to ask me a question!"

     "And you still haven't answered!"

"Then answer mine, and I'll return the favor." King Dice hissed, reaching a hand up to ghost over the Devil's chin with his finger tips. He knew he wasn't too fond of that.

"Fine." The Devil snapped, grabbing hold of Dice's hand rather roughly. Even just that made Dice jump- the Devil was just an intimidating guy.

"Suppose I said no?" The Devil murmured, watching the other workers try not to stare as they watched the two curiously converse- maybe what they thought was fighting, or scolding.

"Then we'd go on to live our lives?" Dice replied, raising a brow. "Nobody else knows what I said except you."

     "Suppose I said yes?"

"...Just know the feelings are returned." Dice muttered, the pink returning to his cheeks. His eyes almost immediately shifted to look at the ground, the Devil looking on him in surprise.

'He likes me?' The Devil thought, suddenly getting a whole different point of view on the situation. 'He likes me?"

"I-It's fine if you don't... Say yes." Dice added, swallowing. He tried to pull his arm from Devil's grip. Devil was caught off guard and Dice managed to slip away, quickly making his way over to check with the other workers. He adjusted his tie, adding a "Goodnight, Boss."

The Devil blinked, it all happened so fast. He would have ordered him to come back, but he didn't feel that he had the energy. His cigarette was basically just ash, so he tossed it to the ground and smashed it under his foot. He'd speak with Dice tomorrow.
