{Jay}

I slipped on a gray sweater and my black vans, and headed out of the house to finally stop Luke from this crazy idea he had in his head. I walked down 3 blocks to meet Luke, and he was already waiting there, checking his flashlights. I had to bring my own just to walk down the street since it was so damn foggy. I almost tripped over my own feet three times.

"Okay I'm here, let's get this done." I said sarcastically.

"Come on have a better attitude than that" Luke teased as we walked down the final road to get to this so called "creepy" apartment.

"Hey, you're lucky I'm even here right now"

"You know you were just dying to check this out"

I scoffed "yeah, okay"

After walking down a road that seemed to go on forever, we got to the very end of it and I was surprised to see it was a dead end. There we stood, in front of apartment 201. I wasn't sure how Luke knew this was the right place, since the number on the apartment was almost falling off.

"You sure this is it?" I asked.

"Positive" Luke answered quickly.

We walked up the creaking steps to the front door and opened it, the door almost breaking it off it's hinges with just one tap. Everywhere we walked creaked, it was dark and somehow still foggy in the apartment. We turned on our flashlights, and I made sure never to get more than two steps away from Luke.

"See, it's not that bad" I said, trying to hide the fear in my voice. because honestly, I was scared shitless.

"Yeah, I guess.." Luke said, obviously creeped out as well

On the walls there were old pictures, probably from the 1980s. This seemed to be one of the oldest places still standing in this town. There were old couches covered with dust and lamps that were half broken.

I kept thinking I heard noises coming from up stairs but, I shook them right out of my head, convinced that I was just hearing things. I heard more and more creaking sounds coming towards me, my breath hitched in my throat and I froze.

"Ahhhh!" Luke shouted as he hit my shoulders.

"Luke! You scared the shit out of me, never do that!" I yelled, half laughing.

"Still 'not scared'" He asked sarcastically.

"Well of course I'm gonna get scared when you sneak up behind me in the dark!"

Luke just laughed as we continued walking through the apartment.

We decided to walk up the steps and see what we could find. I thought the stairs were gonna break under us, from all the creaking. My knuckles turned white from gripping the railing so tightly.

"Jay look at this" Luke said, showing me a really creepy picture that looked like the same exact picture my mom had of her as a kid. It was basically a replica of it, except with a lot of dust.

"What the hell, how the," I kept rambling on, trying to get a grip of why this person had a picture of my mom as a kid "why the fuck does this creep have a picture of my mom!" Thoughts were rushing through my head a mile a minute, and I couldn't think of a clear reason why this person would have this. I couldn't even breathe right, I was so confused and scared. I started to sway a little bit but thankfully got myself together quickly.

"I don't know but I'm actually getting really creeped out, I keep hearing noises from up in the attic and the creaking of this floor makes me think that we're gonna fall through any second. I think we should leave." Luke said, looking all around at everything as he spoke.

"Yeah, let's do that.."

We walked out and I heard even louder creaking from behind me. It obviously wasn't Luke this time. I kept hearing it get closer and closer as I picked up the speed of my walking to almost a jog.

"Luke" I whispered.

"Yeah"

"Hurry up I think something behind u-" I tried to say as I felt grip around my entire waist, and a huge hand clamp over my mouth.
