Mornings are never fun, seriously who wants to wake up at 6am just to go to a place you hate? Every morning I have to wake up to a screeching alarm clock and an empty house, since my parents are so busy at work all the time. Or they might still be in the house, the damn thing is so huge that you get lost in it. Most people assume that since I live in this big house that my life is amazing and I get everything I want, when it's really the total opposite. My parents are out or working all the time, and don't give me the time of day. This house is huge, but I spend almost all my time in my bedroom because almost every other room is for my parent's business. I wish my life was completely different, with a normal, loving family, a small house, and most of all a town that wasn't the size of half a grain of rice on the map. This town was way too small, yet no one seemed to be able to get out of it once their in it.
So anyway, I get dressed in my Nirvana shirt, skinny jeans and slip on my beanie.
I put in my headphones and make my way to school. When I walk through the doors of the school, I am almost instantly yelled at by a cranky old teacher to get the headphones out of my ears. I rolled my eyes and yanked them out, I hate it here and already wanted to turn around and go home. After I stopped at my locker to get three of the bricks they call textbooks, I walk over to meet with 3 of the only real friends I had here. Sure, I talked to a lot of people, but most of them just wanted homework answers or else they just talked to me because they knew my parents were rich. I never really understood what that had to do with me, but I guess people really don't care. Cammie keeps talking about a new guy in her class, she does this all the time, yet never makes a move.
I wasn't really paying attention to what they were talking about after Cammie stopped talking, I was too busy trying to wake up and drink my coffee. I heard Luke start to talk about the "big rumor" about the town.
"You know five different kids went in there and never came out" Luke rambled on.
"Oh come on, you really believe that!" Michael argued.
"Hell yeah I do, come on everyone has been talking about it for weeks!" Luke went on, defending his dumb myth.
"Guys, why do you even care about that?" I questioned.
"Because it's something that actually makes this deadbeat town worth talking about" Luke said, while taking my coffee and drinking it.
"It's just a dumb rumor that someone came up with for attention" I said, since these kind of rumors surface all the time at this high school.
"You'll see Jay, you'll see" Luke said with a quirky little smile, I rolled my eyes at him and took back my coffee.
I absolutely hate rumors, everyone falls for them so damn easily, and now that Luke has heard about this one, he won't let it go. He was always one to believe in myths. Then he drags us into his plans to figure it out.
After 3 long classes it's finally lunch and I sit with the same group I always do, I guess we are the "popular" group, I never really cared or paid attention to labels like that. They didn't matter to me. But the thing is with people thinking you're popular is that they think your life is amazing, and that you have no problems. Thats not even close to the truth, sometimes I just wish I could be less known around the school. With being "popular", comes people being fascinated with you, constantly watching your every move, and judging you for every wrong move you make. Being popular isn't as glamorous as people make it seem.
Lunch went fast, and before I knew it I was back sitting in another long class.kept drifting in and out of sleep, science was never interesting to me, that explains my grade in it. When the next class is finally over and the last bell of the day rang, I let out a sigh of relief knowing I can finally get out of here.
I walked out of the school with Luke, Cammie, and Michael. Luke still wouldn't shut up about the big rumor.
"Why don't you just go to this haunted house if you care so much about it?" I asked him.
"First off Jay, its not a haunted house, it a creepy apartment. And second, because maybe I don't feel like getting kidnapped like that other kids who went there"
"You're delusional" I said.
"If you're so confident that there's nothing in there, then why don't you go in?" Luke questioned.
"Because I really don't give a shit about it" I snapped back. "and even if I did, you'd be too scared to go in with me."
"We'll if you go in I guess I'll have to go too." Luke said, grinning.
"Fine." I agreed, just to get him to stop talking about this ridiculous rumor.
"Okay then, we'll meet up tonight, 9 o'clock."
"Why late at night?"
"Because these kind of things are better to do with flashlights" Luke smirked, as he turned and walked of.
Well, looks like I'm paying a little visit to apartment 201...
