Liliana's POV

I never did go see Sam later that day after he had left my house. I thought I was so close, so close to getting the ending I wanted with the only person I wanted.

I don't think I could've handled going to see him after we almost kissed. I probably would've slipped up and told him I love him. That's honestly the last thing he needs before this audition.

Ever since the Josh incident, Sam keeps texting me to make sure I'm ok. Most of the time I short answer him or don't even answer at all. I feel awful after all he's done for me but I don't want him focusing on me at all. He needs to practice and if the only way he'll do that is if I ignore him then so be it.

After 4 agonizing days without him I finally gave in and made the short drive to his house.

Walking up the driveway I began to fear the worst. What if he's pissed at me? I deserve it but I don't know if I'll be able to handle that. I can't help but try and shake the feeling of a huge pit in my stomach.

As soon as I approach the door little Buddy runs over and presses his paws against the glass screen door. Jackie always leaves the front door open in the summer. Some people might consider it dangerous, but I think she does it so Max, Lou, Skylar and I can come and go as we please. Both her and Papa Roy are really laid back about that stuff.

But sure enough Buddy's frantic barks bring Jackie to the door to greet me.

"Liliana it seems like it been forever!" She says throwing her arms around me.

"Jackie it's only been 5 days! I saw you at Sam's show!"

"Oh I know," She says. "I'm just so use to you kids coming by here everyday. Its been so quiet with just Sam and Roy around."

"Really? No Lou or Skylar or Max?" I ask puzzled. "That's really odd."

"Yes I know, dear. Listen Sam is in his room probably practicing. I'm sure he could use a break! Why don't you go on up there?" She suggests.

Nodding I make my way to the stairs. "Come on buddy!" I shout causing the little dog to follow, scampering up the steps next to me.

Even before I'm next to his door, I can hear his voice singing the lyrics to a song I've never heard before.

"Cause if I gave you all I got, would you notice were the same." The words flowed softly from his lips, sending goosebumps up my spine. I've never heard this song before, it's a new one! It has to be!

'You can't just stand here forever' my subconscious nags. Listening to her, I push open the door to his bedroom and walk inside.

Immediately the strumming stops and his head snaps up revealing his bright red cheeks. Is he embarrassed?

"H-hey" He stutters, shoving the sheet music of his song under the blankets.

"Is that a new one? Can I see it? Are you gunna audition with it?" I ask excitedly it hopes that it'll lighten the mood. The air in the room feels heavy as the tension builds. I shouldn't have ignored him.

"No. No I'm singing Ed at auditions." He snaps. His face remains blank and his mouth forms a straight line.

"Sam." I know what this is really about.

"What Liliana? I'm busy." He snaps again, more harshly this time.

Why would I think he wanted to talk? Of course he's busy preparing for tomorrow. 'He has more important things to do than be with you' my subconscious adds again.

Regretfully, I reach for the doorknob before speaking again. "Im gunna go, bye." I quickly say. His eyes go from piercing green to a softer color as I walk out of the room and down the hall.
