Liliana's POV
"Where are you?"
"Hello?"
"Liliana why aren't you here?"
"ANSWER ME"
"I know you're reading this!"
Message after message rolls in, causing my phone to light up constantly. My grip on my phone tightens as I read the senders name. Every single one of them is from Josh, my ex. Ever since we broke up he's been this way, possessive and annoying. When I told him I wasn't coming to his party tonight he freaked. Of course I'm skipping the party, I'd rather watch Sam play at The Patio today anyways.
Honestly, I'm afraid of him. I don't know what he's capable of. Id like to think he wouldn't hurt me but I don't even know that anymore.
"You better not be with him." The next text reads.
"Hey, you ok?" Sam nudges me playfully with his arm.
"Yeah, have you decided which originals you're gunna play tonight?" I ask him.
"Don't change the subject, Lil. You're phone hasn't stopped going off since you got in the car. Is it Josh again?" His eyes shift from the road to me and then back to the road again.
I can't even bring myself to look at his perfect green eyes. Instead my eyes go to the phone blowing up in my lap.
Sam knows how horrible mine and Josh's relationship ended. He was there through everything, all the fighting and the tears that came along with it. He's always been there, ever since we were little. The only thing Sam doesn't know is why that relationship fell apart and I'm planning to keep it that way.
Suddenly the car pulls into the parking lot of the restaurant and parks. Neither of us get out or even look at each other.
"Look, there's something I've been wanting to tell you, and I don't know how you're going to react." He nervously wipes his hands on his jeans before turning to face me.
Is this what I think it is? Is he going to tell me he loves me? Of course he doesn't know I feel the same way and have for awhile. My smile grows wider and suddenly any thoughts of Josh disappear. It's just me and Sam, whose cheeks have now turned red from nerves.
"I'm auditioning for American Idol!" He finally blurts.
Wait what? My smile falters for just a second before I replace it with a new one.
"That's amazing! Oh my God I'm so happy for you!" I squeal as I pull him in for a hug.
"Really? You are?" He giddily replies.
"Of course! Why wouldn't I be? I can't believe you didn't tell me sooner!"
"I wanted to! It's just I thought....I don't know...that you'd be mad or something cause it's our senior year." His beautiful smile fades and he searches my eyes for an answer.
"It won't matter cause I'll have to make it past auditions anyways, and that won't happen." He adds.
I hate when he doubts himself. Sam is the most talented person I know. He's so passionate about his music and I've always supported that. It makes him happy. The way his eyes light up when he sings is one of the things that made me fall in love with him. If he ever felt like he couldn't pursue his dreams because of me, I wouldn't be able to forgive myself.
"Samuel Joseph Woolf," I start, "You are without a doubt the greatest singer I've ever heard. You're so talented the judges would be stupid not to take you to Hollywood. You're not just going to make it past auditions, you're going to win. I just know it." He's smiling from ear to ear by the time I finish.
"You really think so?" He asks, raising his eyebrows.
"I know so!" I giggle.
"You're seriously the best Lil!" He smiles back and gently squeeze my arm.
"Now come on, I have to go help this loser set up his equipment for his show." I joke and receive a laugh from Sam in return. God, his laugh is perfect. Everything about him is perfect, his gorgeous green eyes, his freckles and his smile. But soon those eyes will be gone.
