When we park the car James runs out to open the door for me but by the time he reaches my side I've already got the door open and I'm getting to my feet. We walk in together and the waiting room is empty except for Danny who is sat in one of the seats looking at a hunting magazine.

"Danny?" I ask, my voice sounds tight with pain, "what are you doing here?"

"Alpha?" she looks up, her expression shifting from confused to worried when she sees me. "Oh my God, what happened?" she demands and she's at my side in a second.

"I ran into another alpha..." I explain weakly. "Is Eric ok? I didn't expect you to still be here." I change the subject while Ben goes over to the counter to check me in.

"He's fine, but because of that rabid dog story they insisted on giving him a bunch of shots," she laughs a little, "I'm just waiting for them to clear him."

I nod, "good. Hey, can you do me a favor? I'm having trouble mind linking Ben, I got hit in the head pretty good, so could you tell him where I am, and have him send Tanner over?"

"Yeah, of course," she nods. James gets my attention as the nurse comes around the corner calling my name. I say bye to Danny and follow the nurse down a long hallway. She leads me into a private exam room. She asks me a bunch of questions about my medical history and stuff before giving me a few pain meds to swallow. She asks a few more questions, filling out a paper on her clip board. Then the promises the doctor will be with me in a moment and leaves the room.

A few minutes later the doctor arrives and says I'm going to need an x-ray.

"How much is that going to cost?" I ask anxiously, I'm not made of money and simply being an alpha doesn't exactly come with a pay check.

"Your insurance should cover it," the doctor says dismissively. I don't have health insurance, even when I lived with my parents, one of their pack members was a doctor and didn't charge us so it was never needed. Fuck.

"A-Alpha," I hear Danny tentatively mind link me. I guess there isn't anything wrong with my head.

"Yeah, Danny, what's up?" I ask, the doctor has left me alone again as I wait for a nurse to take me to the x-ray room.

"I don't think your head trauma is the reason you can't contact Ben," she starts and I don't know what she means. "Ben isn't answering me either, I think something's wrong." Panic flares up in my chest.

Just then a new nurse walks in. When she sees my face she instantly decides I need bandages. I try to explain that I can't pay for that and it's just the wrist I'm worried about but she wont listen.

"When Eric is discharged I want you two to go back to the woods and try and find Ben, he and Tanner should be together." I order as the nurse cleans my face with rubbing alcohol and cotton swabs.

"Yes, sir," Danny replies respectfully.

"Oh and Danny," I call out before she closes the link, "thank you."

"For what?" she asks.

"For being the best gamma an alpha could hope for," I reply smiling despite the pressure the nurse is putting on my stinging wounds.

"Anytime," and I can feel Danny smiling back.

"Ok, I'll take you to the x-ray room now," I nurse annoyances and I slide off the stool I was sat on. She leads me out of the room and as we step into the hall way my phone starts ringing.

"Hello?" I answer it and the nurse shoots me an angry look.

"Phones aren't allowed in the x-ray room," she tries to explain but I ignore her.
