Thanksgiving Plans

Today is thanksgiving. And school is out on break, which means I get to spend more time with Jack. Speaking of Jack, he's supposed to come over for a turkey dinner. Maybe we can have a sleep over and build a fort or something. He does owe me some fun time, because he ditched me last week when I went to detention. Watching a movie sounds great.

Nothing scary, though. I hate scary movies.

My mom is inviting this man over for the turkey dinner as well. His name is Kurt. They've been talking for a while, and I'm not sure how to feel about it. Ever since my parents divorced, she has been trying to find love again. Not that it's bad or anything, I just don't appreciate that she moved on from dad so quickly. They were married for eighteen years. Not to mention, they were middle school lovebirds. It's obvious my dad isn't over her yet. Now and then he sends flowers, and writes poetry on notes. My mom ends up throwing the notes away and gives the flowers to me instead. My dad never wanted to divorce my mom, but she grew tired of my dad. She felt they should separate and start seeing other people. My dad has slipped into a bit of a depression. I feel terrible about it.

My brother says his friends will be over.

In this small town, everybody knows everybody. And almost everybody knows that my brother is quite the trouble maker. He's always been this way, though. When he was six, he lit the neighbor's storage unit on fire, simply because he thought it would be fun. He loves to vandalize things and tag walls. If he isn't sitting on the couch playing video games, he's out at a bar with friends, most likely getting into a fight. Or he's at a party getting drunk and high...Or he's on a date. One more thing, he doesn't have a girlfriend. He has girlfriends. It's just his thing. And as soon as he met friends that were just as crazy as he was, there was no turning back.

Having a dangerous brother has its perks though. Nobody bullies me. It's the exact opposite, actually. You see, my brother is very popular. Especially with the ladies. He was born blessed with the more attractive genes. The girls at my school are super nice to me, mostly because they want connections to my brother.

Anyways, there's a new friend in his bubble of maniacs. From what he tells me, this guy is pretty chill compared to the rest of his friends. The kind of guy who stays sober at a party, just to drive your drunk ass home at four o' clock in the morning on a Saturday. The kind who stays quiet and stands in the back of the group watching everyone else conversing. The dude you'd love to play Super Mario Brothers Galaxy with. Somebody who would carry on full blown debates about whether or not Crazy Frog is a better meme than Gummy Bear.

Maybe this year's thanksgiving feast won't be so bad after all.

By the way... Crazy Frog is way better than Gummy Bear. #ringdingding

I hope that will some day become a viral hashtag meme.
