At school on Monday, I kept my eye out for a boy that I could attempt to date... or maybe just to have a simple crush on. I decided to ask Emily without mentioning the reason why.
"Hey Em. Do you know any guy who likes me?" I said, trying to act as calm as possible.
She giggled and said, "Well. I know this one guy.. but you're too cool for him".
"WHO? I must know!"
"Jordan.. You know him right?"
I smiled. "Yep. Should I ask him out?"
Emily nodded.

I walked up to Jordan at lunch. I asked if I could talk to him in private. He went bright red, like a beetroot. "Ye.. yeesh.. I mean yeah." he stammered.
"I think we should start dating'. I said to him. I was certain he was gonna say no but-
"Sure".
I told him I'd text him after school and I ran off. I had a horrible feeling in my stomach. I had done the wrong thing. I didn't have a crush on Jordan. Why did-
"YOU DID IT!"
I turned with a start. Emily.
"Yeah. I... I guess I did." I said.
"YAY. WE CAN DOUBLE DATE NOW!" she said, grinning like a monkey.
That was the last thing I needed. "Emily... noo.."
I ran away, my face bright red. I did a lot of running that day. I would probably be super fit by the time I left school.
I realised that I'd made a mistake. I didn't like Jordan. I would never like Jordan. WHAT. AN. IDIOT.
I decided that I would just tell him it was a dare.
I texted him after school, like I had told him I would, and said, "lol. soz but wen i askd u out it was 4 a dare. soz :L"
He replied with, "its k.. i neva really lykd u anyway"
Whatever. Glad that was over with.
Then I texted Emily. "soz 4 actin so weird l8ly... idk wats gotten into me"
No reply.. I felt heartbroken. Heartbroken? Because my friend didn't text me back? Wow. I knew at that moment. That I, Lana Marie Jankins, had a crush on Emily.
