"So, what's your specialty gonna be?" HoSeok sat next to me on the velvety sofa. I furrowed my eyebrows and began to ponder about what I was good at. I wasn't really strong like NamJoon; I didn't even know what he did in Imperium Syndicate. I wasn't skilled with electronics like JungKook. I had no sex appeal like JiMin and I barely even knew what the periodic table looked like, so I couldn't help YoonGi with chemicals. TaeHyung's style was too brutal for me and I'd be nowhere near as skilled as HoSeok with knives. I was afraid of poisoning myself, so I don't think I'd work well with SeokJin. It seemed like I didn't fit anywhere.
"I'm honestly not too sure," I paused," Maybe NamJoon has a role for me of some sorts?"
"Nope," NamJoon turned the corner casually with his hands in his pajamas pants. It was an unusual sight to see him look so comfortable with his ash grey hair sticking up everywhere. It was, in a way, cute. His eyes were tired looking, but his skin had a morning glow. The light rosy swirls that touched his nose and cheeks made him look like a child, but his buff arms completely contrasted with his youthful face.
"Nothing?" HoSeok questioned the leader.
"Nada," He yawned, "Figure out something you're good at and we can work from there." I sighed. I have nothing that I'm good at that would impress the boys.
"You're a decent actress," JiMin peered up from his raunchy book, "I could help you improve your techniques." He winked at me and a playful smirk was wiped across his face. I scoffed and rolled my eyes.
"JiMin, if you don't quit I'm going to sue you for sexual harassment," The boys and I chuckled.
"No, but seriously. I think it would be a great idea to give you some pointers. No funny business, I promise," JiMin looked sincere. I knew his remarks were just jokes and I understood his humor. I did enjoy acting and it did sound like a fun challenge. I smiled to myself lightly.
"Sure, that sounds great," JiMin put two fists up in victory.
"I COULD TEACH YOU KNIFE TRICKS!" HoSeok exclaimed loudly. I winced at his volume and patted his head.
"That sounds fine, but please, HoSeok hyung, stop yelling," He pouted at me.
"Call me J-Hope. HoSeok makes me sound too dignified," he cackled, "Also, WHY DON'T YOU CALL ME OPPA? I MEAN DON'T YOU LOVE ME?" I let out a heavy sigh and for the sake of my ears, I let a small 'J-Hope oppa' to satisfy the screaming man-child. His smile was so large that it made little wrinkles next to his eyes and his elf ears perked up. He poked my cheek and scurried away.
"You should probably learn hand-to-hand combat. We all had to at one point," JiMin suggested, much quieter than J-Hope would have done. I nodded in agreement.
"Yeah, probably. Who can I go to for that?"
"NamJoon hyung."
So that's what NamJoon does? He's a brutal force kind of guy. It fit him. He's a very straightforward man and I'm sure he thinks weapons get in the way. I mean, I'm sure if he really needed to use a knife, he had the skills to use it, but I get a feeling that it's not his style.
"He's the brute, huh?" I smiled to myself.
"He's probably the scariest of all of us," JiMin stated blankly. I could tell that this wasn't a lie and I've experienced it first hand. When he grabbed my arm that night Park YiShik was murdered, it felt like my bones were being bent and crushed. He was using so much force and strength, yet it didn't seem to phase him. His eyes looked as though he was a different person, like a true, unadulterated killer.
"I think you should maybe learn something from all of us, like a jack of all trades," SeokJin walked passed us. JiMin nodded slightly agreeing with his idea. It didn't seem like a bad idea and whichever one I liked the most, I could stick with.
"She should learn something none of us know," NamJoon chimed in," I don't need two people doing the same job. She can learn from the masters and then master a skill herself. She'll be the perfect addition to Imperium Syndicate."
I smiled internally at NamJoon's words. Perfect addition. I liked the sound of his compliments. They tasted sweet, like strawberries and cream.
"Come up with an idea of a new skill and talk to me about it," NamJoon took a sip of the coffee he had made and disappeared from the common room. I sat back and thought. What's something different that the boys don't already do?
"What can you not do, JiMin?" I asked the reading boy, patiently awaiting his answer.
"I can't sew," He blankly announced, still reading his erotic book. I rolled my eyes and huffed at him.
"Is there anything you can't do, SeokJin?"
"There's a lot of things I can't do, but they wouldn't really kill anyone. Unless you count making delicious and nutritious food a deadly skill," He hyped himself up.
"I don't know, Jinnie hyung. Some of your food tastes like a death," JiMin giggled. SeokJin's jaw flung open and he looked like he had been slapped. Offended, he marched over to the younger boy and smacked him hard on the head. JiMin rubbed his noggin and cowered down further into the couch. I shook my head at the silly men. I couldn't believe I decided to live with these losers.
"SeokJin-
I was interrupted by the older man.
"Jin, please. You're apart of us now, you don't need to say my full name," He smiled patting my leg. I smiled back at him.
"Alright, ehem, Jin," I started, "is there anything that you guys don't know?"
Jin sat back, letting his shoulders relax. His hair slightly brushed against his thick eyebrows and his eyes narrowed as he was deep in thought.
"We don't really use guns because they're too loud, but we sure could use a ranged weapon master," he suggested.
"Hell yeah!" JiMin full-heartedly agreed with Jin and he pumped his fists in the air causing Jin to get excited too. Both men were frantically chanting 'Sniper! Sniper! Sniper!' while first pumping. Ridiculous. However, Jin's idea wasn't too bad. It did intrigue me and I've always been a very good shot. My dad used to bring me to the shooting range. His best friend was a cop, so we frequently went shooting. They both said that I was a natural and Officer Kim wanted me to join the force, but I never had any interest.
"That's a good idea, Jin oppa. I'll bring it up with NamJoon," I smiled and with that, I went to go present my plan to my leader.
I waited patiently outside of NamJoon's office door. The door swung opened to reveal a nappy-headed boy who's eyes were still heavy with sleep.
"What a pleasure to see such a beautiful girl so early in the morning," NamJoon slurred, voice thick with slumber. I smiled shyly, slightly uncomfortable with his endearing words. It's been a while since NamJoon directed a snarky comment at me. He seemed more relaxed around me.
"Jin gave me an idea," I started, "What do you think about me being a sharpshooter?' I pitched my idea, hopeful for a positive answer. Slowly, I watched NamJoon regain his leader-like composure. His raked his large hands through his hair. He was deep in thought.
"Are you a good shot?" He asked, walking over to his desk and shuffling through various papers.
"I'm pretty decent. I've shot guns before," I added. He seemed weary about my suggestion. NamJoon stopped his sifting and brought a small index card to his face.
"Are you willing to work with someone you don't know?" My interest was peaked.
"I mean, as long as they are an ally and you trust them."
NamJoon smiled.
"Of course I trust them. He's part of a group, much like ours, and is highly regarded in our world as one of the best sharpshooters. I think you'll learn best from him," NamJoon stepped towards me and handed me the card.
