"People have trained for years just to be where you're at now, YuNa. I'm impressed," SeHun observed my marksmanship, each shot perfectly executed. Both of us were entranced by the ease of my shots, the complete embodiment of sharpshooting sprayed across the target dummies. The clicking of NamJoon's shoes lulled me out of my trance, bringing my attention to his stature. His strides were long and as usual, his hands were relaxed in his pockets, but something about the way he approached me made me uneasy. Nothing between us had changed; he was still lashing me with back-handed compliments. He continued to ignore me, especially when we were around the others. His actions were the exact same, but the air around us was suffocating me. There was an unspoken tension that I couldn't quite swallow.
"Looks like you're ready for your own missions," a smile slithered onto NamJoon's face, "Let's go." He jingled the keys in his pockets, pivoting back inside. SeHun grabbed my case and handed it to me. I diligently packed my sniper away and began heading downstairs to meet up with NamJoon. SeHun trailed behind me, catching up to my heels.
"So how's the whole situation with NamJoon?" His voiced was skimmed with curiosity. I knew what he was talking about, of course, but I didn't want anyone to know that I was avoiding the matter. I kept my face forward, not answering at first-- gathering a response in my head.
"Well, I guess it's going fine," I slightly grimaced at my own words. Nothing was really going fine. The surface of the problem seemed smooth, but the interior was rugged and riddled with uncertainty. SeHun snickered, knowing that I was sugar-coating.
"But you've at least come to terms that he likes you, right?" He brought his eyes down to better read my expression. He was wrong, honestly. I really haven't accepted what everyone has been telling me; NamJoon just doesn't seem like the type of man to hide his feelings like that, but maybe I'm wrong. "You haven't, have you?" SeHun interjected. I bit my lower lip in defeat.
"I really don't know what to think. Everyone keeps telling me his feelings, but he has yet to really confirm them," we reached the last stair and we stood in the living room.
"I understand. Well, he better hurry up before someone takes advantage of his negligence," SeHun winked, slightly smirking. I scoffed, amused by his flirtatious attempts. SeHun was definitely the opposite of my type. He was an arrogant flirt that thought he was the best at everything just because he had the basic knowledge on a subject. It annoyed me, but we were still friends, nevertheless. In all honestly, I guess I didn't have a set type of ideal man. If I liked you, I liked you, and that's that, but SeHun, BaekHyun, or even JiMin didn't interest me, despite each of them being attractive men.
As I kept walking, I kept thinking. What is my type? Do I like bad boys that smoke and wear dark colors or do I like the cool guys that can get into every party? Do I like the cute guys that are shy around new people or do I like the kind of guy that pays for parking on a Sunday? Physically, I found many people to be attractive, but to me, it's not about how you look, but rather who you are. I value people's traits over their faces, but even then, I can still find the good in people behind all of the bad.
"Ready to go, Miss YuNa?" NamJoon was waiting for me on the outside porch. I nodded and we began to walk together. NamJoon isn't a bad guy. He's strong-willed, smart, and he is an excellent leader, but he's also irrational and he can be a very dangerous man. I eyed him up and down as we strolled through the forest. His skin was honey, glazed by the sun, and his face rested in calmly, mouth slightly agape. If it weren't for the dark 3-piece suit he was wearing, I would think he was a forest prince, but beauty is just a fraction of what calls for true attraction. I thought back, without taking my eyes off of him, about the pros and cons of his person. I hadn't quite figured out who he was-- what he really stood for, and it was difficult to deem him "my type".
