A/N: yooo thirty five reads in a day? Y'all must be thirsty for this novel :D

Penny:

"Your turn." I said, relaxing a bit into the warmth of Talon's torso. It was a little unsettling at first, I'll admit, but dammit he's comfortable.

We agreed to play the game of break the ice with notorious regulation, since if it wasn't hunger or thirst or hyperthermia that would kill us first, it was gonna be boredom.

It was a good three or four hours since we fell down the hatch, and it was getting darker.

"Alright. Favourite colour?"

"White. Yours?"

"Purple."

"I guess that figures... "

"What do you mean by that?"

"Your uncle? Your entire MAD dynasty has a purple colour scheme?"

Talon laughed dryly. "That's not why I like purple. I like purple because of my favourite fruit."

"Oh. Then what, pray tell, is your favourite fruit?"

"Plums."

I found myself smiling. "Well, my favourite fruit is strawberries."

A new gush of icy wind swept down the open hatch and made me clutch Talon even closer. He didn't protest, instead folding his arm around me tighter.

"Do you think we're going to be found?" Talon asked, looking up towards the hatch. "I hope so. I also hope that my uncle would be smart enough to start looking for me."

"Let's hope that he doesn't incinerate me the first chance he gets."

"I'm sure he'll understand."

Talon looked down to see my face. "You think so?"

"Truly." I replied with an absolute sincerity in my voice. Talon smiled, and it were as if, just for a truly sweet moment, we forgot that we were enemies.

Not a moment later I heard a clink and a clang from above, and I knew the truce would soon come to an end, the walls would go up again and we would never speak like this again.

We scrambled apart, out of the warmth of each other's arms.

Uncle G's extensive head leaned over the hatch and stared down at us. "Is that you, Penny?" He called.

"Yes uncle G!" I called back.

"And who's that with you, my dear?"

I looked over at Talon with hesitation, who stared at me helplessly.

Without thinking, I replied the first thing that came to my mind.

"A friend."
