Penny:

I woke up with a start. Arms were quick to force me down again. I beat and bashed against them, struggling to free myself.

"Where's Talon? What's going on?" I kept demanding, refusing to settle.

"That's enough, let her go." A voice from the door said. Immediately the nurses holding me down let go, and left the room in the process.

Before me stood chief Quimby, his eyes holding a tiredness to them. He leaned against the doorframe and looked at me. I refused to let my guard down.

I could tell he was pissed. I didn't care.

"Where's Talon?" I asked quietly. "You've got some explaining to do first, Agent."

"Not until you tell me where Talon is." I said, clenching my fists so tightly that my knuckles turned white.

"He's not of our concern. What you did-"

"You mean you left him there?!"

"You broke into the enemy lair with no weapon, no backup and no escape plan! Do you have any idea what could have happened? It's a miracle that you got out!"

"It's not a miracle, Chief, I got out because of him."

"He's the enemy, Penny."

"He switched sides! Haven't you noticed how all of MAD's attacks have been harder and more brutal the last two weeks?"

"That doesn't justify his actions."

"He's on our side Chief! While we stand here arguing he's probably being beaten to death!"

"Enough!" He barked. I shut my mouth. I knew it was pointless to argue now. He didn't know what I knew.

"Now, get dressed. I expect to see you in the boardroom in six minutes. Is that clear?"

I swallowed, only then noticing how dry my throat was.

"I said is that clear, Agent?"

"Yes sir." I bit back the urge to blow a raspberry.

He nodded and walked away. The moment he was out of earshot I took a deep shaky breath, in through the nose, out through the mouth.

On the bed stand was a pile of clothes. I put on a pair of jeans and a sweater, speaking fluent swearword as I dressed. I made my way out of the medical bay and to the elevator, pressing the button and waiting.

The door opened and the janitor walked out. It almost reminded me of Talon for a second. "Good mornin' miss Penny." He greeted as he walked by.

"Hi Jerry. How's the family?"

"Me wife's expectin', which is good news I 'fink."

"Oh, congratulations." I said before the door closed.

I pressed the button for the top floor and waited. I had to come up with a proper argument to defend Talon.

If I can convince them to organise a rescue mission, he'll face trials at the very least. I have to convince them that he's innocent. He's been through enough already.

His beaten up face was seared into my mind, and I knew that it was going to be incredibly difficult to convince them.

But I just had to try. I had to.
