Star's POV

"Pretty hectic day, huh?"

Marco nudged me. He and I were now sitting on his bed. I was fiddling with my fingers and staring at the pretty (pretty perfect in my opinion) wand in my hand. I could tell Marco was trying to cheer me up. It wasn't working though.

He knew I wasn't normal, but the question now was—why was Marco acting so normal about everything? I mean, he did faint...That's not the point though. Things should be the other way around. I should be the one trying to reassure him, not him trying to reassure me.

"Marco...I appreciate you trying to normalize everything that's going on...but it's not normal. Are you actually this cool about everything?"

"Of course I'm not." My heart sank.

"In fact, I'm freaking out. I have a hundred questions! But I'm sure you do too." Marco turned towards me and I looked up at him.

"Star," he put his hand on my shoulder. "I know how confused you must be right now. I know I would be. I can't bombard you with questions you don't have the answer to, now can I?"

"Nope." I smiled and placed my hand on top of his. "So don't." I tapped my wand on his chest.

"I won't." He raised his hands and smiled back at me. I sighed.

"I'm scared Marco." Looking down, I could feel the tears in my eyes. "I have no idea what's going on anymore. What if this thing is for evil and not good?" I tapped my wand, "If something attacks me, how do I know if I'm fighting for the right reasons?"

"Attack you? Like what?" Marco's eyes shifted towards my wand. "It doesn't seem so scary..."

"Like villains...or heroes? Who knows. Do you feel?" I rubbed my eyes with my free hand.

"I see what you mean but I think if you ever have to fight against these things, you'll know if you're doing the right thing. Star, there's no way you're evil. Your name and magical pink and purple wand say otherwise. Also, you have me." Marco karate chopped the air. "Karattteee! Remember?"

"Duh." I laughed at his lame movements. "Weirdo." Sniffling, I shoved him playfully.

"Hey!" He chuckled and attempted to shove me back. I used my wand to block his shove. "Cupcake blast!" A dozen cupcakes flew out of it and they all hit Marco.

"Agh!" Marco fell back onto his bed. "Not. Fair."

"Well," I hopped off Marco's bed. "We should get some rest."

Marco chewed a cupcake, "Night Star."

"Night Marco." I walked out of Marco's room and headed towards mine. Something felt weird and it wasn't the fact that I was some magical being with a wand. I dismissed the feeling and got into bed, pulling the covers on me. All night I tossed and turned and tried methods I didn't know were possible to go to sleep. Nothing worked.

As much as I didn't want to wake Marco, I got out of my bed and walked out of my room and towards his. Knocking on the door, I called out his name. "Marco!" I whisper-yelled, not wanting to wake his parents. "Are you awake?!" The door opened. "Oh, good." I smiled and walked in, looking around. I furrowed my brows, realizing Marco wasn't the one that opened the door. "Marco...?" The door quickly shut behind me, leaving me in the dark. I jumped and raised my wand, turning in a circle. "Who's there?"

"Surrender your wand or we'll hurt your little boyfriend!" All of a sudden the lights turned on and my eyes widened. A group of monsters were standing in the corner of Marco's room. One muscular one was holding up Marco, its arm choking him.

"I'm not h-her boyfriend!" Marco gripped the monsters' arm. "Do-Don't listen to them Star!"

"Oh, I'm not. MEGA MUSHROOM DESTRUCTION BLAST!" My wand shot out mushrooms towards the enemies. As soon as one mushroom hit one of the monsters, it broke out in mushrooms. The muscular monster dropped Marco, screeching. "Nasty!" It grumbled.

Marco crawled towards me but another monster picked him up. "Don't let him escape!"

"Let go!" Marco elbowed the monster and wiggled out of its grip. He ran towards me and raised his hands in a karate position. "These are definitely bad guys."

"I don't know how to get rid of them!" I began trying to fight them off along with Marco.

"Go back to where you came from ugly monsters!" Marco yelled, kicking a monster out of his window.

"Hey...we're not that ugly!" It spat as it fell.

"MEGA STARFISH TSUNAMI!" I blasted the rest of them out of Marco's window and into the cacti garden below.

Marco shut the window and slid his back against it, panting. "That was..." he wiped sweat off of his forehead, "awesome! You were awesome, I was awesome...we were awesome!!"

I giggled, "That was pretty cool. Did they hurt you?"

"Nah. They came out of nowhere though. One second I'm dreaming about nachos and the next second I'm being choked by a monster!" Marco said, raising his hands. "There's no way they're good guys by the way. They didn't signify any signs of peace."

"And they wanted my wand..." I frowned, continuing to stare at my wand.

"Those spells were amazing! How'd you think of them?"

"They're in the giant book that came with the wand. I memorized them." I shrugged and sat on Marco's bed tiredly.

"Uh...Star?" Marco sat next to me. I looked at him. "The monster's said something sorta weird when they were threatening me..."

"What'd they say?" I frowned in worry.

"They referred to you as 'Princess Star'," Marco replied, "They were all like: Where's the princess! Where's Princess Butterfly!"

"Princess...?" Princess? I didn't know how to respond to Marco. I didn't even know princess's still existed, but me? A princess? No way. I mean, I've been homeless my whole life. I've had nothing for years until Marco took me in. If I were a princess that would mean my parents were royalty. My brain hurt from trying to piece everything together so hard. All of my confusion seemed to double. Did I have parents? Were they killed? Princess of what? Marco must've noticed my stress because he wrapped his arm around me.

"We'll found out who you are Star. We will. I promise. I don't really know how, but we'll figure it out. I mean, we make a pretty good team."

Smiling, I looked at Marco. "Yeah, we do."
"Midnight nachos?"

"You bet!" I raced Marco to the kitchen.

N/A POV

"Sire," A buff crocodile with a human torso bowed before a large red chair. "We could not capture the wand. The princess has learned quickly."
The chair spun around, revealing a large lizard-like creature wearing a suit. "Stop aiming for the wand then," he spoke darkly. "You have two options; aim for what she cares about the most, or offer her information about her pathetic parents." The lizard stood up.
"Oh, by the way, I don't only want the want the wand now. I want the pretty princess too."
