Riker didn't respond right away.
"Did you talk to him last night?" I ask. He doesn't answer. "I'll take that as a no?"
"I didn't get a chance to."
"How? You live with him?"
"He was asleep when I went into our room last night, and he wasn't home this morning."
"Well we know where he was." I say, rolling my eyes. Riker just stares at me. "Sorry. I was just-." He cuts me off.
"It's fine." I could hear the agitation in his voice, but I wasn't sure if it was from Rocky, or me. He goes silent.
"Look, he didn't do anything, if that's what you're worried about." I say, sitting up and looking directly at him.
"It's not that. It's just," Riker pauses with a sigh, as he pinches the bridge of his nose.
"Then what is it?" I take his hand in mine, giving it a slight squeeze for reassurance.
"I just don't know what he's trying to do."
"I don't think anyone really does." I didn't know what else to say, so I rest my head on Riker's shoulder. "I'm sorry I brought this up." I say with a sigh, as my head starts pounding again.
"Don't be, I need to know."Silence falls between us.
"If you think about it," I say looking straight at Riker again, as I push strands of hair behind my ear. "There's not much else he could do to break us up. He's already tried what he did, and yes, it caused a lot of problems and he almost succeeded. But we're still together, and no matter what else he tries, we'll be ready, and we're going to fight to stay together." Without hesitation or a response, he puts a hand on each side of my face, pulling me closer, and presses his lips against mine. "What was that for?" I ask when we pull apart.
"What? I can't just kiss you?"
"I mean, of course you ca-." Riker cuts me off with another kiss, more rough and passionate. "What has gotten into you?" I ask breathless, with a smile as we pull apart again.
"Just want to have a little fun."
"After that conversation?" I asked with a confused expression. Riker nods. "You do realize I still have a headache, right?" I probably just killed the mood. I thought, as he lets his head fall against the back of the couch with a sigh. Yup. "Sorry." I rest my head on his shoulder.
"It's okay, I forgot." Riker says sliding an arm around me.
"Maybe later?" I suggest, looking straight forward, with a crooked smile.
"Later could work." I look up at Riker, who was already looking down at me, and I close the gap between us."So," I say, as I sit straight up on the couch.
"So?" Riker says still laying down.
"What are we going to do?"
"About?"
"Seriously? Rocky." Riker lets his head fall back with a groan.
"You really want to have this conversation now, after what we just did to keep our minds off of him?"
"Well, it would've come up later anyway." I say in a "matter of fact" tone.
"I'll talk to him tonight."
"Are you really going to, or are you just saying that so we stop talking about it?" Riker was silent for a moment.
"Both."
"You're a jerk." I say giving him a playful smack on his leg.
"But you love me anyway."
"You keep thinking that." I roll my eyes, as I push myself off of the couch, only to be pulled back down by Riker.
"I'll talk to him." He says in a serious tone.
"Good, now let me up."
"No, you're where you're meant to be." Riker whispers, as he tightens his arms around me.
"No, I'm meant to be in the bathroom, 'cause I gotta pee." I squirm in his arms.
"Thanks for sharing." He says sounding disgusted, releasing me. I couldn't hold back a laugh.
"No problem." I say pushing myself off of the couch. Before I go into the bathroom, I pick up my phone from the coffee table. Since it's been on silent for just about the whole day, I turn the volume up, then go through my notifications, as I sit on the armrest of the couch.
"Thought you had to pee?" Riker says sitting up, as I scroll through my notifications.
"I do, just wanted to see if Rydel text me or not first." Which she didn't, but I had a text from Eddie.
BUBBLES !! I have some exciting news ! -Eddie.
&What might that be ??I put my phone back down on the coffee table, and make my way to the bathroom. Only about 30 seconds after I walk in, I hear "Call Me Maybe" by Carly Rae Jepsen playing on my phone, I instantly knew it was Eddie calling.
"You really have that as your ringtone?" I hear Riker say.
"It's only for when Eddie calls." I reply back as I quickly finish my "business".
"Want me to answer it?"
"If you want to." I say, only to just now remember I never told Eddie that everything between Riker and I was okay.
"Hey man, what's up? - She's in the bathroom." Riker says on the phone.
"Seriously?" I say loud enough for Riker to hear, as I'm washing my hands.
"You almost done in there?" He says jokingly to me, just as I'm walking out.
"Give me the damn phone." I put my hand out, and he hands it over. "Hey, sorry about that." I say to Eddie, as I shoot a look at Riker.
"It's okay. So I take it you two worked everything out?" Eddie asks unsure.
"Yeah, we did." I say walking into my room. "So what might this 'exciting news' be exactly?" I sit at the foot of my bed.
"Are you ready?" He says trying to get my as excited as he sounded.
"I guess?"
"I'm coming to California!" Eddie practically screams in my ear.
"Are you serious?" Now I was getting as excited as him.
"Yes! I'm coming next month after graduation."
"Oh my G, yes! I can't wait to see you, even though I just saw you like two weeks ago."
"Only this time it'll be better."
"Absolutely."
