I walked up to Ashton's house. Knocked on the front door. Soon, Ashton answered, looking happy and healthy. "Ashton... I have bad news." I knew my face was blotchy from crying so much, and the smile that was on his face had disappeared. Worry rushed to his face as he coaxed me inside.

"What's wrong?" he said, sitting down with me on the couch.

"I'm... Moving to Australia... tomorrow. I just found out a couple hours ago. I'm so sorry." I started to cry even more. Ashton was perfect. He got me. He was my boyfriend, but also my best friend. I felt horrible. I expected Ashton to say something, maybe ask me why, or protest, but he didn't. Instead, he pulled me into his arms, and kissed my forehead. He told me that he loved me, and that he was sorry. We broke up, knowing long distance never worked out. That was the last time I saw Ashton before I went to Australia.

We pulled up to a light yellow, three-story house in a nice neighborhood.

"This is it." Grandma said. I was shocked how big the house was.

I didn't feel in the mood to talk to anyone, so I decided that once I was done unpacking, I would go for a jog around the neighborhood.

-

I put on my leggings & sports tank top and started jogging out the door. I pulled out my phone and put my earphones in. I started scrolling through my music when I ran into someone. I looked up to see a tan, dark haired guy. Calum. What was he doing here? I thought he was back at home, in California. "Calum! Why're you here?" I asked.

"I'm here on vacation visiting my family. Why are you here?" He asked, puzzled look on his face.

"Oh... I kind of live here now. I just got settled today."

His eyes widened. "What? What about Ashton?"

"We broke up..." I said.

"Oh. I'm sorry. Well, I'm staying down the street. For a whole month. Maybe you can stop by and we can hang out sometime." He said.

"Sure. I'm gonna get back to my jog now." I said, continuing moving through the new place.

About a week after I had really settled down into the new school and my new house, I decided I would take up the offer of hanging out with Calum. I walked to the house he said he'd be in, and a small woman answered the door.

"Hi, I'm looking for Calum?" I kind of asked.

"Oh yes." She smiled, walking further into the house. Soon after, Calum came out with a smile on his face.

"I thought we could go hang out on the beach. You and I both could use a tan." He laughed, comparing his skin color to mine.

When we arrived, we went to a good place in the sun and lay there, exchanging awkward jokes every now and then. Once we felt we were tan enough, we hopped back in his car and went home. It was kind of a boring day, but it was better than sitting around and being depressed like I usually would. It was finally my last year of high school, so I had decided that I would go and check out some colleges without really consulting my grandma. I looked at some music schools, and I loved them all. I applied, knowing that I wanted to be a music teacher when I got older.

-

Calum and I had become pretty close friends the time he was here. Eventually he left, leaving me friendless, yet again at the new school. At least I only had half of the year left of school. When I got home, I checked the mail. There was a letter from the college I liked. I got in. I was really excited. I told my grandparents, and we celebrated by going out to dinner.

Authors note:

I'm sorry this chapter kind of sucked. It was fast-moving and yeah... It was just kind of a filler. It will get a lot better soon, I promise. :) thanks for reading.
