The jarring silence was too much to handle, the eeriness brought a whole new feeling upon Y/N shoulders, the weight of it feeling like it was trying to pull her down to her knees. It didn't help anymore with how she looked: sweaty forehead, clammy hands, heartbeat quicken but it felt like it had jumped into her throat.

She gulped for unnecessary oxygen, her mouth feeling too dry to speak. "No. No, no, no, no..." She repeated non-stop, her head spinning as she turned to Arthur, a look of sadness in her E/C eyes. "There has to be a way to do t-this again."

Arthur had just as much sadness in his own green eyes, "We can't... That was our only chance, and we messed up." He turned his head towards the thrown book on the floor, "I'm sorry..." he muttered, his voice sounded tired, tired from working so hard and through all hours in the day, he felt like a failure that he didn't manage to work it.

Y/N turned her gaze from Arthur to Lukas, who also, looked disappointed, his eyes trained on the salt covered floor. "Lukas..." Y/N muttered quietly, walking to him as she kneeled in front of him, standing in the middle of the pentagram, "It failed..." his eyes moved to look into hers, and for that second she thought he would burst into tears, but instead, his eyes turned hard, before glaring daggers over to the Dane opposite him.

"På grunn av han!"{1} For the first time, Y/N had actually lash out, the anger inside of him seething, her heart dropping. Even though she didn't understand what he had said, he felt that whatever he had said held so much anger and frustration.

Mathias' eyes were wide with shock and sadness himself, small tears brimming in the corner of his bright blue eyes. Y/N thought he reminded her of what a puppy would look like; distress and guilt as he pouted, "L-Lukas..." His voice was small and cracked didn't hold as much warmth or life, he was clearly woeful.

Lukas tried to calm his nerves, moving from Y/N to take Emil's hand (much to the Icelandic's dismay), before looking to Y/N again, "... Take us home.... please... all of us."

Y/N almost hesitated at first, looking over to Arthur, who remained in the same position, then to Tino and Berwald; Tino had tears streaming down his face as Berwald tried to comfort him by putting his arm around him.

She sighed in defeat as she nodded to let Lukas know she was fine with it. Lukas took Emil by the hand as they walked to the door, and they were already leaving and waiting outside in the hallway. Y/N took the crying Tino by the hand with Berwald by his side.

She looked to see if Mathias was there, but he wasn't moving, he still remained in his spot. He must've known someone was waiting for him, since he looked up at her, holding a second of eye contact, before he moved sluggishly to the door.

"Do you want me to drive?" She turned once again when she heard Arthur's voice. She was unsure at first, but he must've thought it would've saved gas for her car. She nodded, not speaking as they all walked down to the elevator, then to Arthur's car.

They all got in, with a bit of struggle, but in the end, Y/N held onto Lukas and Emil, whilst Tino, Berwald and Mathias sat in the back. The journey was quiet and awkward, no-one dared a word, and it made all things worse when Y/N realised that when Lukas had meant they wanted to go home... they wanted to go their  home.

Y/N sat quietly in the spare bedroom, the room she had stayed in from so many nights ago. It almost felt like yesterday when she was made her way to the Nordics' home to find them in such a state. She felt worthless and pathetic, the feeling of despair running through her head, knowing she couldn't do anything to help them.

As soon as they all made it to the Nordics' home, Lukas was the first to go to his room, leaving the others alone and awkward. Y/N thought it would be best to stay just in case, and Arthur thought he would come over later to see how they were doing, once he had calmed down himself and sorted everything in his own home. He also mentioned going to the store to buy any food and drinks for them, which Y/N felt extremely grateful for.

She was so occupied with her own thoughts, she didn't even notice someone coming into the room to check on her. "Y-Y/N..." She blinked the tears away, her head darting up, staring into the blank ones of Mathias'. She was so surprised by how dull they looked, they didn't hold that brightness like they always did, and they looked more like the colour of dirty ice.

She realised he had been crying, since his eyes were puffy and red, his hair more messy than his usual wild locks, meaning he had probably cried himself to sleep for some time and had just woken up. "He hates me... L-Lukas hates me a lot." He almost whispered, that tearful look back on his face once again.

Y/N eyes softened, shaking her head, locks of H/C hair swaying, "You know he doesn't. He d-doesn't hate you Mat." She sighed as she looked down, downcast. "I'm sorry it didn't work. I'm so, so, sorry. You know I would do anything to make you all happy."

She heard shifting and small feet padding across the floorboards, as Mathias stood in front of her, "You've done enough. You could've just left us to get on with it. But you didn't... you helped us and you know not just me, but Lukas, Emil, Tino and Ber, are all so very grateful."

She felt a tear run down her cheek, as she smiled sadly, "T-Thank you Mat. I promise I'll do anything to get you all back to your normal selves." "You don't need to. We're more than grateful for yours and that Brit's help." She laughed softly, even though such bleak times, he still had his humour to cheer her up.

They both smiled at each other, until Y/N held her arms open, "I don't know if you're much of a hugger." She laughed quietly and awkwardly, but Mathias didn't turn her invite away. "C'mere." She watched as he came into her arms, and she instantly smelt liquorice and butter scents on his sweater.

They stayed there for sometime, and eventually, she had to sooth the Dane's tears again, all with thinking the same thing, about how she would get them all back to their normal selves.
