Author's POV
" Sorry but no. Why should I follow someone I don't trust? "
Aside from Hak and Zeno, all eyes widened , not expecting the lady to say that. " WH-what? You live to serve the King " Ki Ja immediately said. " I never agreed to it. I'm not bound to King Hiryuu like some of you, and also, we just met. How can I know that what you're doing is worthy to follow?" You ask them. You've always been one to speak out what's on your mind. You just left them where they are. " I'll be in the village. Breakfast is served in an hour or two, I'm sure the Chief would love to see you there."
You arrived back in the village as you wrapped your bleeding hand. You head over to the Chief. " Oh goodness. You did it again didn't you?" The woman grabbed and inspected your hand. She made you sit, and started to treat your wound. " Sayaka . Listen to me. " she looked at you seriously. " Your powers, you can't use them on everyone. You know this. " she said with a desperate sigh. You didn't utter a word, because you understood completely why. " They're the ones I've been talking about. They told me to go with them " you told her. She stopped her move, net for a while. " What did you say? " she asked calmly. " I refused. I don't trust them." you really don't know what to do. " If you go with them, will this kingdom change? " she looked at you with intensity burning through her eyes. The village is not very rich, it relies on vegetation and sometimes, it doesn't really go very well, especially during winter where crops can't grow. This is why the village is prone to starvation and poverty. Thankfully they have you. You help them in many ways. Often bringing food or different kinds of seeds and resources. " Chief! I can't. Don't even think about it. I can't leave you or the others. " you raised your voice slightly, knowing what the elder has in mind. " Sayaka listen to me. We've been fortunate enough to have you for a long time now. But what about other villagers? What if by joining them, others can be saved? " You knew what she said was right, but your heart was heavy, and your head was filled with confusion. You needed some air, so without a word, you just ran outside. You felt the tingling feeling on your back and as your feet left the cold, bare ground. Brown feathers fell down on the ground, leaving a trace that you were there.
Meanwhile, Shin Ah was also walking around the forest. He felt intrigued with the girl he just met. 'She seems nice, but something is stopping her from joining us.' he thought. He genuinely liked the girl, feeling that she has no bad intentions and seem to get along with others. Because of his sharp senses, he noticed the sound of footsteps close to him. He immediately noticed the owner of the golden hair that was running, a frown painted on her face. The male gasped in shock when all of a sudden, wings appeared on her back. Brown, golden wings that looked so big and strong . He watched silently as she flew away, slowly disappearing into nothing. He then wondered, should he inform his friends?
You flew up, to the top of the mountain. And rested there for a while. The world seemed so peaceful from up there. This is your favourite place to cool off your head. There was nobody there, and you spent a good 10 minutes just staring at the clouds, deep in thought. But your peace was short, a familiar scream penetrating the calm air. You immediately hop off and flew towards the source of the noise. You didn't forget to hide your wings once you landed. You then saw Yuuto and some kids from the village held by bandits. Rushing over, you pulled out your katana.
" Let them go or I'll cut your neck off " you pointed the sharp edge in front of the man who was holding one of the girls. " And what are you going to do little girl?" He asked. There was 2 girls and Yuuto himself . You didn't waste another second before vanishing and reappearing behind the man, the tip of the katana pointed at his neck. The kids instantly ran behind you. "Yuuto go back to the village."
Although reluctant, he nod his head once you gave him a reassuring smile. "Oh come on, aren't I supposed to be the cool person who saves everyone? I'll be fine. Now go." the boy and the two girls then ran off. You looked back at the men, and your eyes changed to a golden colour. "Now, shall we continue?"
The men in front of you didn't move, but you saw a movement on your left. One of his comrades tried slashing your arm, but you quickly gave him a kick, and hit the butt of your katana behind his head, knocking him out. Another member came out, but you quickly dodged his attack and punched him in the stomach. You kept going until only the leader remains. He trembled, scared of his fate. You slashed the sword at his chest before he fell down on the ground, limp, showing no signs of life.
Suddenly, a clap was heard behind you. You turned your head and saw Hak leaning against the tree with a surprised face. " Some skills you have there. Who taught you?" He asked. You shrugged, "I taught myself." you replied before heading back to the village to check on the children.
You checked on each one of them and was washed over by relief when all of them were unharmed. That night, you thought about all the things your chief had said. You couldn't sleep so you just head outside , trying to calm your nerves. Just then you heard noises from the wood and you head over to the source. You saw a familiar red head, swinging a small sword at a tree. ' Is she practicing at night? ' Yona panted and stopped to rest. " You shouldn't practice with a wound like that. " you voiced out. Yona looked at you and smiled, patting the patch of dirt right next to her.
"Princess, what do you need me for? What is it that you're seeking? " you asked her before you sat down and looked at her. "Oh, just call me Yona." she said with a smile, in which you nod in reply. "I was a spoiled girl. I was stubborn, selfish and I have no clue on what was going on around me. After my father got killed, I was kicked out of the palace and I travel. I travel and I saw so many unsightly things that was ignored by my father. I want to change this place. I want to help everyone. " Yona explained.
You smiled, quite fascinated at the burning passion behind her eyes. "You're a special person, Yona. I mentioned trust before. I can't follow someone i can't trust, just like others. You see, griffins are very loyal creatures. Once we trust someone, we put our outmost loyalty to them. That's why we get hurt a lot more than you think." you stopped. There was something with the red haired girl, that made you utter the next few words. "So, if you really need my help, stick to those words you said just now and I will surely follow you till the end" you then stood up and gave her a cheerful grin. You don't know what made you feel so secure, but you felt like following the path Yona is trying to achieve wasn't the wrong decision." Don't sleep too late princess, I'll see you tomorrow. " you mocked her nickname a little before waving at her and going to your room to take your share of rest. Sleep hits you fast, now that you have made up your decision.
