[Justin]
She answered.
I can't believe she actually answered.
I couldn't help the smile in my face. Just hearing her voice turned me on.
I had to take a shower. A cold one at that.
It was Saturday, and I needed something to do. Usually I'd go to the office, and work. But my dad forbid me to.
I had been working everyday for the past six weeks, trying to get caught up and soon was caught up for the next three months. My dad suggested a vacation, but I declined his offer. Or maybe I shouldn't have.
After my cold shower, I dressed in sweats and a shirt laying around in my bed. I was deep in thought when I got an unexpected call.
"Hello?"
"Justin! It's me Lisa!" She screams through the phone.
"Lisa? What's wrong?"
"It's Karina! I came over to her apartment and she's having an episode." She cries.
My heart drops. What kind of episode?
"I'm on my way. Just stay there."
"Hurry please!" She cries. I hang up the phone, retrieving my keys and heading out the door.
As I arrive at Karina's apartment, I'm met with Lisa at the door.
"What happened?" I ask.
"I usually come over and check on her, so I came tonight and she was... S-she was."
"Calm down Lisa. Where is she?" I ask.
"Upstairs with the paramedics." She sobs. I rush upstairs, Lisa behind me.
"Sir, are you a friend of the victim?" One of them asks.
"Yes I am. What happened?" I say, my voice startling Karina, making her look away from me.
"It seems Ms. Brent had an anxiety attack. She hasn't been taking her medication." He says putting away his materials.
Medicine? What for?
"Ms. Brent, I suggest you take a few days to relax. No work. Just relaxation. It'll do you some good." He suggests receiving a nod from Karina, who has hid her face from me the entire time.
"Thank you." Lisa says graciously as they walk out of the apartment.
"Well that's over." Lisa sighs.
"Y-yeah." Karina sniffles.
"Karina... Why have you stopped taking your medicine?" Lisa asks, her hands planted on her hips.
Karina doesn't say anything. She just sits there, fiddling with her fingers.
"Karina-"
"I-I'm tired." She says getting up from the couch, easing into her room.
Lisa huffs.
"Why does she take medicine?" I ask once she's gone.
"She has these anxiety attacks. She's been having them since her dad died."
"How did he die?"
"Car crash." Lisa says biting her lip. "Justin, I'm really worried about her."
I look towards Karina's room. I was starting to get worried about her.
"Um... Could you stay here? I have to work and I can't stay."
"Don't worry I got you." I reassure, smiling warmly.
