Chapter 3: Confused Round

After a nice hot shower, I was finally starting to feel more relax and finally felt like I could talk to Taylor without going off the deep end. I got out of the shower and got in my version of pajamas and quickly braid my wet hair so that in the morning it would be wavy. As soon as I walked out of the bathroom I realized that it was just going to be too hot for a huge t-shirt so I quickly exchanged it for a tank top.

Taylor wasn’t in my room so I figure she was in the kitchen getting something to eat, so I went off in search of her as soon as I stepped out into the hallway and sure enough I could hear her laughing in the kitchen. I walked into the kitchen to see her, Dixon, and all three of my brothers sitting at the kitchen table laughing “what’s so funny?” I asked walking over to refrigerator to get a bottle of water “oh nothing” Taylor said reaching out for my bottle of water, I took a sip and then handed it to her. I looked up to see Dixon staring at me “what?!” I snapped at him, Trey smacked him on the arm “dude not cool” he told him.

“You so cannot blame me for this” Dixon told him “I mean look at her” he pointed at me. I looked down at myself I didn’t see anything wrong “Emmy will you please go put on a t-shirt or something” Trey asked. “Why? I wear this to bed all the time” I reminding him “Emmy please just…” he started to say but I didn’t allow him to finish “no I’m not changing just because Baboon over there can’t control himself. If it’s such a big deal why doesn’t he just go back to his own house?” I yelled feeling the angry I felt earlier coming back. “Emmy just go change the shirt” Trey said frustrated that she just wouldn’t listen, “no you’re not dad you can’t tell me what to do” I shouted “Emmy stop” Taylor suddenly jumped up grabbing my arm “come on let’s just go out on the porch” she said tugging my arm to get me to move. “Fine” I said throwing a glare at my brothers and Dixon.

I allowed Taylor to pull me out on the big front porch and pull over to the porch swing we sat on a lot to talk. “Why are you so crabby tonight?” Taylor asked me after we sat down “nothing, I’m fine” I told her laying back on the swing. “Come on Emm we’ve been best friends since pre-k, I know when you’re upset. Plus you never argue with Trey” she pointed out; I knew she was right I never argued with Trey especially when he acted like my dad.

Trey had always been in charged, my dad was always gone on trips for work. When I say gone I mean I probably only saw him a handful of times each year. To my other two brothers Adam and James and I, Trey was our surrogate dad, he did all the stuff a parent was supposed to do.

He did the grocery shopping, made sure we behaved and didn’t get into too much trouble. I of course being the youngest and the only girl got “special treatment” according to Adam and James. I admit Trey was nicer to me and constantly worried about me.

I could still remember when I was ten and Trey was thirteen, I had come home from school and asked him what a period was. He had thankfully gotten over his embarrassment and told me and answered all my questions. I had a special bond with Trey, I had been so young when out mom died and our dad had immediately taken his job to put food on the table, Trey had stepped up to take care of us.

“I know” I told her “okay so what’s wrong?” she asked concern clear on her face, I took a deep breath and explained what had happen between me and Dixon. “That bastard” she said a scowled on her face “yeah” I agreed nodding my head. “Emmy did you want him to kiss you?” she asked me, I instantly felt my face heat with a blush “kind of” I told her shrugging my shoulders not looking at her.

“Then you’re mad because Trey interrupted?” she asked, I shook my head no, finally looking at her, she got a confused look on her face. “I’m mad because it’s my first kiss and I get to choose who it’s with, not him” I explained. Suddenly something fell on the porch, we both turned our heads to find Trey standing there apparently having just heard the end of our conversation.

“Who’s him?” Trey asked picking up the bag of trash he had just drop and throwing it over the side of the porch “no one” I said mad that he heard part of our conversation. I hopped up out of the swing and pulled Taylor up with me and pushed passed him heading back into the house “Wait Emmy” he quickly followed after us “Emmy come on talk to me” he said “No!” I yelled as we entered the living room and instead of watching the TV they were now watching us.

“What’s wrong with her?” Adam asked Trey “oh some guy tried to kiss her and now she’s all bent out of shape about it” he explained “Trey!” I yell, I looked over and saw Dixon sitting there with a smirk on his face. “What? I didn’t tell them that you’ve ne…” he didn’t finish what he was saying as I started hitting him with a pillow I had grabbed from the couch. “Shut up! Shut up! Shut up!” I said with each blow of the pillow “okay, okay fine I surrender” Trey said “but I’m not letting this go so quickly Emm, I want to know who this guy is” he finished and sat down on the couch. I tossed the pillow at him with a glare and went to my room with Taylor following me.

I went an flung myself on my bed, Taylor sat on the edge “all of this is because I can’t get any privacy around here” I told her, “you know Trey’s just protective Emmy” she said taking another sip of my bottle of water. “I know” I said “can we just go to bed?” I asked her scooting over on to the side I always slept on when she stayed the night “yeah sure, it’s been an eventful enough night” she laughed putting the bottle of water on my night stand and scooted under the covers. “I still can’t believe he tried to kiss you” she whispered, I reached up and pulled the chain on my ceiling fan to turn the light off.

“Well he’s not going to, I refuse to be Dixon’s play toy” I told her “just be careful Emmy, I mean I don’t believe what all the girls at school say about him but I do believe there is a reason they call him “the cage of love” she giggled at the nickname the girls at school called Dixon, I just rolled my eyes. “Dixon and I would never workout, we’re way too different. I mean come on I’m still a virgin and he clearly isn’t” I said pointing out what made us the most different. “Hey having sex doesn’t make you a bad person Emm” she sounded hurt, I suddenly sat up “oh Tay I didn’t mean it like that you know I’ve never judged you for that” I reminded her.

Taylor had lost her virginity during our freshman to a football player who had pretty much pretended to like her and Taylor had refused to sleep with anyone else until she knew they liked her. “I know, I’m just saying to keep in mind that it’s natural is all. You can’t blame someone for having sex especially at our age, I mean our hormones are raging” she shrugged and laughed. I laid back down staring at the ceiling, thinking about what she said when a question popped into my head.

“Hey Tay” I whispered, she didn’t answer me. I rolled over to look at her and she was out cold. I let it go and let myself relax back into my bed and slowly started feeling myself fall asleep. I was just about to fall into a deep sleep when I heard Taylor moan and then shortly after I heard her mumble “Trey”. Great now my best friend was having dream sex with my older brother.
