These common expression are the daily useful greetings that are used in Japanese everyday lives.
Bowing is the most common form of greetings among Japanese.
Eigo (English) - Nihongo
1. Good morning - Ohayo gozaimasu (used until 10:00 am)
2. Good afternoon - Konnichiwa (used after 10:00 am)
3. Good evening - Konbanwa (used after 5:00 pm)
4. Good night - Oyasumi nasai (used when saying goodbye late at night either in person or on the telephone )
5. Goodbye - Sayounara (never used between members of the same family)
6. Let's meet again / See you later - Mata ato de O-aimashou (used by close friends)
7. Excuse me - Sumimasen
8. I'm sorry - Sumimasen (very formal) ; Gomenasai (formal)
9. Forgive me - Yuru shite kudasai
10. It's okay - Daijoubu desu (used when mentioning the condition of the word, health and others)
11. I don't mind - Kamaimasen
12. Please don't worry - Shinpai shinaide kudasai
13. Thank you very much - Doumo arigato gozaimasu (Very formal) ; Arigato gozaimasu (formal) ; Doumo (casual)
14. You're welcome - Dou itashimashite
15. (I) love you - (Watashi wa) anata no ai shiteimasu
Note : In "Dou itashimashite" this is a polite way of replying to someone who has either thanked you or apologized for something or less formal just reply simply "iie" .
