There was nothing she could do.
She felt desolate, deprived of happy feelings.
Sad.
Regretful.
Dying.
Her mate, Lithuania, had already parted this world.
She could still remember his last words to her.
"I love you, Belarus. Never forget that."
She could only respond with choked tears and an unsuccessful attempt at speaking.
Now she lay on her deathbed, crying softly to herself. Why couldn't she tell him? At the most important time! Regret haunted her.
She forced herself to stop sobbing and focus on his happy moments before he died. And soon, she will too.
She knew he loved the ocean.
And the seafood.
He also loved sushi.
She smiled bitterly as she remembered his smile.
His clothes.
His melodic laugh.
The way his hair ruffled when he shook his head.
And many things else.
She could feel herself slipping away from life, and she cried.
Big, racking sobs that shook her whole body.
And the last words she uttered was," I wish I told you I love you."
And everything faded to black.

She opened her eyes to a meadow of lush green grass and clear blue skies. She stood up, only to be hugged by a pair of arms.
Heaven.
She turned around to see Lithuania, his smile seeming to be brighter than anything else around them.
"Come on, Bel. Let's go home."
