DUST BONES, in my opinion, is a One Direction fanfiction staple. It is a book I would recommend to newcomers, as a way to induct them into the world of 1D fanfiction. Mainly, for the fact that it is a well-written piece of work. It kept me on edge chapter after chapter, with the perfect mixture of action, romance, and twists.

When we meet our protagonist Catalina Gates, she arrives to her father's mansion somewhere in Mexico. She's greeted by a slew of armed men, who quickly lower their weapons as soon as her presence is known. This aggressive behavior doesn't scare Catalina. For the daughter of a mafia leader, this is just a routine she's accustomed to. Another adapted routine, is the constant shuffle from place to place.

With the protection of her father's right hand man, Harry Styles, Catalina is set to travel to Texas. However things don't go as planned, when she learns that she is the target of several vicious assassins. Catalina should feel safe under the protection of Harry, but with his stoic demeanor and constant bouts of fury, she isn't so sure if survival is possible. Because if the people who are after her don't kill her first, then Harry just might do the deed himself.
The author of DUST BONES creates a fast paced story that highlights the importance of finding strength and courage despite the daunting situation life may put one in. A pretty girl with blonde hair, Catalina cries whenever she feels frustrated or scared. While it may seem like our protagonist is nothing but a fragile girl, she's far more stronger than she realizes. For a seventeen year old student who is being forced to trust a man she does not know, in order to eschew leagues of vile killers, Catalina has no choice but to find the courage within her.

DUST BONES is a wonderful read, and with 14 million views, it's no surprise that others think so too. If you're one of the few who has yet to indulge in this book, I highly suggest you sit down, strap in, and ride along on this thrilling journey.
