14| KEEPING SECRETS

Soon it was dinner, only 2 men were missing from the table. "Where are Stark and Rogers?" Natasha said uninterested as she glanced at the doctor sitting in front of her while he ate his salad. "I don't know?" Valerie said grabbing her fork before glancing over at Bucky who glanced back at her making her look away very quickly. Since Bruce said some words in the lab Valerie had been avoiding Bucky the whole time until dinner. The whole table was quiet without the talking duo accompanying the team at the table. Valerie refused to speak as she was scared her voice would betray her and it looked something was going on with Natasha and Bruce as they weren't talking to each other either.

Valerie cleared her throat after a while of uncomfortably shifting and clanking sounds of her fork hitting her salad bowl. "I'll uh, eat this in my room." "I'll join you." Natasha replied, standing up with her salad bowl in her hand, smiling while her eyes screamed for help. Valerie nod her head and walked out of the kitchen with the red head closely walking by her side. The men just looked at each other and sighted, dropping their utensils in relief.

"What's the deal with you and Bruce?" Valerie asked as she stuffed her mouth with her salad while standing in the elevator with the red head next to her, staring blankly in front of her even though there was nothing to see than a closed elevator door. "I don't know." Natasha said truthfully. She and Bruce had feelings for each other, everyone knew and they also knew. They just never went further than small romantic teasing's and short kisses time to time. 

"I don't know you that well but, you can talk to me about it." The elevator door opened up to Natasha's and Valerie's floor and the both of the woman walked out it. "Up for a drinking game?" Natasha offered as she walked towards her room. Valerie smiled and nod following the what older woman by 3 years to her room.

While Valerie and Natasha drank themselves half asleep and Bruce and Bucky were at the lab discussing Valerie's power, Tony and Steve given up trying to locate Winn Miller. First, he was so easy to find with an 100% face match, now he isn't even anywhere to find with a 50% face match. It was like he disappears at night and awakes in the morning. "Keep an eye open, Fury. If he walks in, don't hesitate to call." "I won't." Fury answered Steve disappointed. Hours of research and no data was found of the man after he went missing. His phone was nowhere to detect, his bank card wasn't even used. They were eager to know what happened to him but for now they just had to return to the tower, sleeping and keeping the information secret from Valerie. It was the best for her, they thought. 

Valerie was doing fine, she was close to forgetting it all. Also, they haven't collected any data about the man, what would be the point of telling Valerie if they didn't have enough information. Risking Valerie to go back to being depressed wasn't an option as she now was closer to learning how to control her powers. 

It must be held a secret until they knew more.

Guys, I kind of wanna put this book down because even though it gets reads I don't see comments or something which makes me think this book isn't that good of a book ((which isn't because I wrote this story a while ago when I was bored)) so please comment so I can see I do have active readers and I will keep updating.
