19| TRIGGERS

Avengers Tower, New York

"Bucky! Bucky!" Valerie shouted through his and Steve's floor. "Here you are!" Bucky said relieved, approaching her. Valerie jumped in his arms, holding him tightly against her as Bucky confusingly hugged her back. "You're you." She whispered in relief. "And you are extremely happy for someone who just found out her best friend is a fire spitting superhuman."

Valerie laughed before turning back serious. "Winn is after me, he will kill me. S.H.I.E.L.D. been compromised, HYDRA put their helicarriers in the air, ready to kill thousands of people. And they will turn you back, Bucky." She said catching her breath afterwards. Bucky took in the information before he dragged her into his room.

"Winn is going to kill you?" He quietly asked as he closed the door and the curtains. "Have you even listened? They will turn you back Bucky."

Before any other word could be exchanged, Valerie heard the elevator in the hall outside the door open and heard heavy footsteps wandering through the halls. 'They're here' Valerie mouthed as she dragged Bucky into his closet. The moment she closed the door of his wooden closet she heard the door of the room getting kicked open.

"Winter Soldier!" A low voice just in front of the closet yelled. Valerie never felt so frightened and she could see by the way Bucky looked at her he was frightened too. "He is in here sir; the door was locked." Another voice said.

Bucky's breaths hitched in his throat when he heard the first 3 words spoken out loud in the room by one of the men. "I need to stop them." Bucky whispered angrily but Valerie shook her head, "They'll kill you."

Bucky started to panic and covered his ears with his hands as his breaths started to get out of control. Valerie, being the newbie she was who've never been informed, didn't know what happened and tried to calm him down with her touch. Did an assassin just had an attack?

Of course, the trigger words that could bring back the Winter Soldier. Just as Bucky she started to panic. She was not going to die in a closet by the hands of a brainwashed man. "Listen to me." she whispered making Bucky uncover his ears. "I can still hear them say the words." He whispered as his attack slightly faded by the touch of her hands on his cheeks.

  "добросердечный."

"Listen to be Barnes. You will change, you will feel the mental pain and I will get you back. But before you turn, you have to remember this..."

Bucky nod his head in confusion, quickly glancing at her pink lips before looking back to her brown eyes.

  "Один."

She leaned in and crashed her lips onto's Bucky, saving maybe the last moment she could ever have with him.

As the last trigger words left the man's mouth, Bucky turned back into the murderer he was before. His eyes darkened as he broke away from the kiss by grabbing her by her throat and pushing her against the closet door. She fell backwards out of the small wardrobe with Bucky on top of her, still having her throat around his metal arm. The men looked at the scene happening on the ground, their guns pointed towards the Winter Soldier and the almost unconscious Valerie. Soon they dropped their weapons to their side and all smirked, "Welcome back, Winter Soldier."

He immediately choked her unconcious without a second thought. Everything turned black but not before her brown eyes met the dark ones of his. He forgot what she told him to remember; his first kiss since 1942.

This is like the 100th time that I'm saying this but I wanna finish this book as fast as I can and if I ever had the chance I would edit the hell out of this book... but I'm lazy so...
