Chapter 8
Sugar cam bursting into the bedroom early in the morning, she was panting. “Get up you two.” Simon tried to sit up but Maddy was lying on top of him. He shoved his friend off him witch woke him too.
“What?” Simon gowned. He really was not a morning person.
“We gatta get out of here.” Sugar left the room she dialed a number to call someone, Simon heard her frantic voice talking to whoever was on the other line.
“What’s going on?” Maddy asked now fully alert.
“I don’t know.” Simon strained to here.
“Look!” she hissed out. “These two boys need safe passage out of this town, do you not understand that.” There was a pause then she started yelling “I am not going to put two fourteen year old boy’s lives at risk just so you can make a case against Ryan Black Paw,” then he heard something being thrown against the wall as she screamed in agitation.
She came back in the room, “What are you two doing, we have to get going.”
“What’s going on?” Maddy asked.
“Ryan Black Paw has demanded the arrest of both of you, and a reward for anyone who finds you two.”
The two boys change from sweat pants to jeans and into shirts. “How are we ganna leave without anyone seeing us?” Maddy asked.
“Run for it,” Sugar sounded desperate. Simon saw the fear in her eyes; she really was trying to protect them.
“Well we can run faster as wolves, lets pack a bag each with the files, clothes, and money,” he said grabbing a shoulder bag that he bought from the store yesterday.
“They’ll find us.”
“Not if someone stays behind and sabotages the sent,” Sugar says.
“And how are we ganna do that.”
“The same way you did yesterday, though mine will be more dangers.”
“How so?”
“’Cause I’m going to be starting a few fires with Stink weed, the fires could lite a tree up.”
“Then we shouldn’t do-”
“Do it,” Simon cut in, “It only takes five minutes for stink weed to obscure the sent.” He continued, “Start two or three fires at easy traveling distance apart, then put them out after the smell overpowers everything else then do it again some were else.”
“’Kay,” she smiles, “wait twenty minutes, take all the files with you, I’ll meet you in the city Yue, at a dinner called Dinning Kings.”
Then she left the two of them.
“I don’t like this.”
“Maddy,” Simon growled, “Stop whining.”
“I have a bad feeling about this Simon.”
“Enough,” he ordered. “Finish packing, change back into the seats and pack the jeans, well change when we get into the forest.”
“Simon I’m not weak,” Maddy growled. “I’m not stupid; I want to take down Ryan.”
“I know that,” Simon sighed “or I want to believe that.”
“I have a really bad feeling about this.”
“It’s the adrenalin.”
Twenty minutes latter they left the house staying close to the house. They looked around, there wear people around, so they went behind the house then headed towards the forest. Simon could smell the slight sent of the stink weed and headed for it.
