Chapter 9
Simon’s head hurt. He remembers waiting at Dinning Kings for over three hours when he decided he should leave, he would come back later, but after he checked in on Maddy. His hair on the back of his neck stood when he had walked onto the street that the inn was on. He turned and Thing One was there. He remembered running, but he had not gotten far, before his head got knocked into a wall. He went to fight back, but the bald guy kneed him in the ribs and punched him, that’s when he blacked out.
Now he was regaining conciseness and his head and ribs hurt. He struggled to open his eyes, he was some wear warm, and his hands were tied behind him, and his legs were bound to something. He was sitting; he guessed on some kind of chair. He finally got his eyes open and adjusted to sit up straight. The world started spinning for a few seconds, and the strong feeling of throwing up came over him.
“Simon,” he heard someone call and he struggled to see strait. “Simon,” he finally recognized the voice as female. Then the world came into place “Simon,” Sugar was calling him from behind. He felt her grab for his hand.
“Stop yelling,” he gowned.
“You’re all right,” she said relieved.
“Not for long if Maddy doesn’t bring the files.” Simon growled as he recognized the Monsters voice.
“And why would he do that?” Sugar asked cockily. But he had an idea.
“To save you two of course.” The monster laughed. “Not that we’ll let any of you live.”
Simon growled and tried to fight against the restraints. The monster laughed more, “You may be a strong and smart boy, but you're still that, a boy. And you can’t free yourself from the chains. He left the room leaving the two of them alone.
“I hope Maddys not stupid enough to just hand over the files.”
“Maddys not stupid,” Simon said, “But he will do anything to save us.”
“What is it with you two; you act like you’ll die for each other.”
Simon laughed sadistically, “That’s what packs do.”
Sugar sighed “if that wear the case, we wouldn’t be here right now.” She pulled against the chains witch did nothing but rattle.
“A pack is what you make it, and me and Maddy are a pack of two, I’d do anything to save him, if it means I have to die, or I have to kill.”
I look around the room, it was morning, I could tell from both the sun shining in the window and the clock on the wall. “We must be in a hotel, and if they want Maddy to get the files, we’re still in Yue.”
“We are.”
“How’d you get caught?”
“I got caught back in town, I was lighting the third set of fires when the Things got me.”
“Guess you regret helping us then.”
She sighed again, “No, not really, I regret that this was my first field mission, I should have had more training. Then maybe neither of us would be here.”
“How did they find Maddy and me?”
“Probably because you’re a smart kid, they figured you wouldn’t go to another town, makes it easier to be found, and Yue was the closest city.”
“Well, if we are in a city that means if we get out of here they might have a hard time finding us.”
“Okay smarty, how the hell are we supposed to get out?”
