Chapter 10

{Dream}

There was so much fog. Thick fog. So thick I could barely see my hand if I held it in front of my face.

I tried taking a few steps forward bit ended up getting my foot snagged in a gnarled tree root. I landed hard on my shoulder making me yell out in pain.

Beginning to push myself up, I heard a twig snap. the hairs on the back of my neck lifted, as I sensed something approach.

I sat ram-rod straight holding my aching shoulder. Hot breath fanned over my neck. There was no sound. Just the sound of my breathing was heard.

A loud growl ripped through the air, right next to my ear.

I turned my head slightly to get a glimpse of what growled at me, but I wish I hadn't.

Facing the area the growl came from, the fog began to lift. Stood directly in front of my face was a huge grey wolf. it's muzzle was covered in blood; the red colour contrasting with the lightness of its fur coat.

Clumsily, I scrambled backwards on my hands and knees, trying to get away from the monster stood in front of me.

It saw me doing this and took a step towards me and gives me a threatening growl.

Glancing around to try and find a way to run from the beast, I spot something behind it.

Heaps and heaps of bloodied bodies lay behind his huge form.

My eyes began to tremble as I spotted my family laid off one side. All of them had huge chunks missing from either their chest or their necks.

When I glanced back towards the wolf, I noticed it was changing into human form.

I looked away not wanting it to think I was watching.

Bones started cracking as the wolf shifted back into its human form.

The sound of cracking stopped, yet I still refused to lift my eyes from the dirt covered ground.

"Miss me darling?" the voice asked. I looked up to see...

{End of Dream}

I jerked awake from my slumber, a cold sweat dripping down my back. My heart raced and my breathing was abnormally fast.

A few minutes passed before I managed to calm down. Laying back in my bed, I began to think of who the murderer was. Soon my eyes began to droop but I forced myself awake as I didn't want to have any more nightmares.

Quietly, I sat up from my bed and decided to make myself a cup of coffee. I picked up the plate and cup I had brought upstairs with me and walked downstairs, into the kitchen.

I grabbed a cup and poured myself a quick cup of coffee. Walking into the dining room, I pulled out a chair and sat down.

Even though it was only a dream my shoulder still ached like I had actually been in there. Thinking it could've just been muscle cramp, I brushed it off.

Soon I had finished my coffee and went to put my cup in the sink. I glanced up out of the window, only to see a dark shape dart across the bottom of the garden.

Being my curious self I unlocked the back door and walked out into the garden.

The trees loomed high above me, branches looked like boney hands reaching out for help. Leaves shook in the slight breeze, they seemed to have a mind of their own.

I got the feeling something was watching me but I couldn't figure out where they were. A shiver made its way down my spine as I crept further toward the area where the dark shape had disappeared.

I sensed something move behind me, so I spun around to see what it was. But I never got to see who it was as I was hit in the temple and everything instantly went black.
