Gaten's POV:

It's 3 in the morning! She was just another thot, Gaten.. so why are you going through her Instagram? I shrug to myself, frowning when I come across a picture of Finn kissing her cheek as she smiles widely with a red solo cup raised in her hand. See? Just another thot who wanted to get a picture with Mr. Heartthrob when he was still the douche bag he was back then. My thoughts get cut off by the sound of someone climbing out of the passenger seat. I immediately drop my phone on my chest in attempts that they won't notice me in the dark van full of sleeping teens. With my eyes not yet used to the dark due to my phone's light I only listen as quiet footsteps walk down the van and go out the back, the person sniffling lightly the whole way. Once the sound of their footsteps have gone I begin to crawl to my feet, only to jump when a thump comes from the ceiling of the van. Did they just go onto the roof? Are they sleep walking or just that annoying? My eyes furrowed I stand up and silently walk out the same way they did, wonders running through my mind as I'm exposed to the chilling night air.

Every step I take makes a satisfying crunch-like sound due to the gravel road we decided to stop on since there was no hotel or parking lot around. I climb up the latter embedded to the side of the van, hearing quiet sniffles and sobs become louder with every movement I make. I peek my head up to the final stretch to find the sight of a red haired girl with her back facing towards me, her face buried in her hands. Sadie? Immediately I rush over to her side, putting my arm around her as she instantly starts crying in my arms. "Sadie, what's wrong? Are you okay?" I quickly ask without much thought needed as she shakes her head and instead just grasps onto me in a hug. "It's going to be okay, Sades. You're okay." I assure as I hold her fragile, shaking body tightly in my arms. "It's going to be okay, I promise." I say, rocking her back and forth under the starry night sky. I do this without any knowledge of what caused this but not caring enough to make her talk. Night two of our runaway life and someone's already broke.. let's just hope we can keep strong.

"Gaten," The redhead mutters between cries. "all I ever did was treat my family like shit and now.. now I can't fix it." She adds, her cries beginning to worsen after the sentence is said. "No, no that's not true. I know for a fact that you can still do it.. you can still fix it, Sadie. Just-Just not now, I'm so sorry." I comfort as I pull her closer to me, knowing I'm all the comfort she's got right now. "And Gaten?" She asks, pulling away from me as she sniffles, the tears still rolling down her cheeks. "Yes?" I answer with raised eyebrows and concern in my eyes. "Can you.. can you keep this night a secret? Please?" Sadie begs, gripping onto my arms tightly as tears paint over her sparkling blue eyes. "Yeah.. of course." I reassure, she nods before wiping away the tears from her cheeks and snuggling back into my arms. "Thank you." She whispers quietly. Confused of this unknown behavior, I let her hug me for a few moments until deciding it's simply just her wanting comfort. Nothing more, nothing less. So there we sit in silence in a friendly peace. That is until I glance over my shoulder at the sound of hands grasping onto metal and notice a dark shadow of someone with a pair of jealous eyes staring at us over the latter. I turn my sight forward only to double take and gaze back at the latter, though this time nothing's there.

Millie's POV:

I wake to the sound of hysterical laughing. "Yes, delicious mucus making out." I hear a familiar boy joke, sending the others into yet another fit of laughter. "Finn! You always take things so far!" Sadie scolds, I assume she punches him by the way a subtle 'ow' follows. Groaning, I slowly perch up on my elbows as I blink my eyes awake. Sitting across the small van sits Gaten, Caleb, Sadie, and Finn all round up in a circle with smiles. "Morning, new girl." Finn greets, using his charming smile that had yet to diminish from his own joke. I tiredly smile back, "Morning." The others laughs eventually die down but their smiles still present when the notice my awakening. "Oh yeah!" Sadie abruptly exclaims as she reaches over to a white take-out, styrofoam box and hands it over to me. With a brow raised, I sit up and pop open the box to find a pancake and at least two eggs worth of scrambled eggs. "Where did you-" "We stopped for breakfast this morning at Village Inn, that is except for you and Finn. We didn't want to wake you up and he didn't want to leave you so.. we just bought you guys an order." Sadie explains quickly, smiling sweetly at the end. "And that's all yours, by the way. I've already eaten half." Finn adds with a shrug, still red from the part Sadie had said about him 'not wanting to leave me'. I simply nod as a response and begin using the black, plastic utensils to eat my somehow still warm breakfast.

"So, what's the plan for today?" I ask as I cut out a piece of the pancake before bringing it to my mouth. "This'll be our final stretch, so I guess just wait a couple hours and we'll probably be in Indianapolis by late afternoon." Noah explains from behind the wheel, his greenish eyes never leaving the road. "Did I really sleep that long?" I question in disbelief, causing some of them to chuckle and nod. "Even snored a little too." Finn smiles, wiggling his eyebrows at me as I only stare at him jaw-dropped and repressing a smile I already know is growing. "Did not!" I protest, though he only nods, smiling widely. "Did too." He remarks as he throws his head back in laughter. I quickly set down my breakfast and leap onto the already sitting boy who laughs wildly over the joke he only made a few moments ago.

Once he hits the ground, still laughing hysterically, I position myself on his abdomen and pin his wrist down on either side of his head with his legs already pinned up behind my back. "You really need to learn to shut your mouth, Wolfhard. Especially with a girl like Mills." Sadie pipes up, her laughing just as hysterically as Finn and practically everyone. "Ow, ow, Millie. Millie my face hurts!" Finn exclaims, rolling his head from side to side as he laughs, almost to the point that tears threaten to brim his eyes. "Karma's a bitch, Finnie Boi." I smirk, still pinning him down with pride written on my face due to my victory. Eventually his laughs stop and he stretches his jaw, all while still pinned under me.

"You do know I could get free anytime I want, right?" He mentions as he raises a brow at me. "Oh please, you couldn't-" Before I can finish the sentence I'm rolled over and pinned just the same that I was to Finn. He smirks proudly above me, "Care to finish that sentence, new girl?" "One, in your dreams. Two, I'm not new- not anymore." I remark, listing the two things on my fingers that are pinned beside my head. "So? Nicknames don't age, sweetheart." He replies sweetly as he leans down the slightest bit. My god, how is it that even when you have me pinned to the ground.. a simple 'sweetheart' can make my heart beat faster than I'm sure is humanly possible? I glare up at him, sticking out my tongue afterwards as he simply giggles like a schoolgirl. "This is so fucking cute." Sadie interrupts as she takes her Polaroid and snaps a quick pic of the two of us, a mid action shot due to my tongue that still sticks out at the laughing boy.

"Huh.. I always knew I'd be on top." Finn remarks, wiggling his eyebrows at the others as I squirm under him with both embarrassment and cringe sprinting throughout my viens. "Finn!" I scold. "No! Gross!" I hear Noah complain from the drivers seat. "Get it, Wolfhard!" Gaten cheers with his fist. "Shut your fucking mouth, Gaten." I spit, giving him death eyes as his smile slowly shrinks. "Finn, can you please get off?" I plead with miserable puppy eyes. To my demise, he only smirks back. Signalling that he has a come back, and not one I'll like. "Oh you know I always can get off with y-" 'Nope! No! Not doing this. You're disgusting, I'm disowning you as my boyfriend." I say flatly, taking my chance and shoving him off of me as I then grab my breakfast followed by going to sit in the passenger seat beside Noah. "Awe, Millie! You know I was just joking." Finn insists as he quickly climbs to his feet and runs to my side. "Nope. Come back to me when you're less disgusting." I wave off, opening my breakfast again to start eating. "I'm sorry, okay? I was only kidding." "And so am I," I begin smiling up at his confused face, "but, sweetheart, food is better that being under you."
