I stare at the monster before me. He locks eyes with me, pushing off the ground. I draw a breath, because this isn’t Bärchen. Spikes and scales and metal coat this humanoid beast. He has spikes and scales along his chest, and feathers made of fine metal spikes compose the huge wings. The beast seems off balance, and nearly falls due to the wings. It opens its wings as Mez runs out. I back off, heart racing. Why is he changing so much lately around me? I hear Mez tell me to run. I freeze, shaking my head. I don’t think running would be good. The muscular condition of those metal wings suggest he’d be much faster than me. He approaches me with grace and elegance, but I back away.
Then, my saving grace, Superman himself, Jay, comes charging into the hall and gets between me and the he-beast. The beast lowers it’s wings and seems sad. The green eyes go dull, and it storms away. The spikes along the shoulders give the beast a fearsome look. I look to Mez with terrified eyes. She seems angry at me now. She storms up to me and snarls at us both, ‘Out. Out of my house.’ I see the monster freeze. The wings bristle, and it growls to itself. I feel tears running down my face, and take off running. Jay follows me out of the house and into his car. We drive for days and switch drivers every four hours. We’ll live forever on the road.
