Chapter 15
I woke up the next morning with a knock on my door.
“Who is it?” I asked. I wanted to get back to sleep but I got up to open the door.
“Happy Birthday!” yelled my brothers and grandma with a smile.
“Thank you” I said as I went and hugged them.
“We got you a cake” said Sean
“It’s downstairs, come on lets go” said Harry.
“Ok, let’s go” I said and walked downstairs with them.
“We got it for you yesterday, hope you like it” said grandma as she got it out of the fridge.
“I got the candle” said Harry. Grandma set it on the table and Harry handed her the candle.
“I love it” I said with a smile “Thank you”
“You welcome” answered grandma and lit the candle. They sang happy birthday and I blew out the candle.
“Can we have cake for breakfast?” asked Harry.
“Why not” answered Grandma with a smile. I got the plates and cut out four slices.
“Are mom and dad home?” asked Harry.
“I don’t know” I answered. “Would you guys like some milk?”
“Yes please” answered Sean. We ate cake and talked about the crazy things my brothers had wanted to put on the cake. When they finished they got up and went to watch tv.
“Thank you” I said to grandma and gave her a hug
“You welcome” she answered “I got you something” she said with a smile.
“What? You shouldn’t have”
“Of course I was going to get my granddaughter something come with me” she said. I got up and followed her to the garage.
“I don’t mind you driving that old car but you need a nicer car” She held some keys with her finger and threw them at me. “Happy 17th birthday” she said with a smile.
“Thank you” I said as I hugged her again.
“You like it?”
“Yeah” I said. It was a white mini cooper. “Please tell me your daughter had nothing to do with this?”
“No, your mom had nothing to do with it” she said.
“Ok” I said.
“Why don’t you take it out for a drive”
“I will later”
“Are you going out?” she asked. “What time did you get here last night?”
“I got home after three, after the game we hanged out at Tania’s house”
“Aha” she said not believing me.
“What? we did” I said with a smile.
“Sure you did, honey just be careful ok” she said with a smile.
“I know” I smiled.
“Ok, are you going out again today?”
“Yeah, is it ok?”
“Yeah it’s your birthday do whatever you want, have fun” she said.
“What’s going on?” asked mom as she came in the garage. “Happy birthday” she said and hugged me.
