Chapter 18
I got home and called Chad to let him know I had gotten home fine. I went to my room and got my stuff ready to paint. I didn’t stay up long painting, I went to sleep. Next day unfortunately we had school, I got up and got ready, as always Chad picked me up and together we drove to school
. “So how was the rest of your night?” I asked as we were walking to his locker.
“Horrible because you weren’t there with me”
‘I’m sorry” I joked. He got his stuff out of his locker and then we walked to my first class.
“I’m going away from town for a couple of days” he said. We still had time before class started.
“Where are you going?” I asked.
“Some college visit”
“Oh, ok” I said in a sad voice.
“I promise I’ll hurry up, I won’t be gone long”
“When are you leaving?”
“Tomorrow after school”
“When do you come back?”
“I’ll try to be back by Thursday”
“Ok” I said with a small smile. The bell rang and we went to class.
The rest of the day we didn’t talk about his trip, we had lunch with the group and it was fun as always. Nick and Ryan were arguing about some football team. At the end of the day, Chad took me home and he stayed over for a bit.
“So how was your day?” he asked, we were at the kitchen table working on homework.
“Good, I can’t wait to be done with this” I said as I closed my algebra book.
“Let’s take a break, we’ve been working on homework for like an hour, come on” he said as he took my hand and we walked to the living room.
“Shouldn’t you be home, packing?” I asked as we took a seat on the couch.
“I can pack when I get home; it’s the last day we hang out before I leave”
“First time will be apart for a long time” I said as I leaned my head on his shoulder and wrapped my
hands on his arm. “Are you excited?” I asked with a smile.
“Yes, it’s something important, a huge decision in my life, its crazy” he said with a smile.
“I know” I agreed.
“What are you going to do while I’m gone?
“Nothing probably, I have a test Thursday, so I’ll study for that”
“Why do you study you’re so smart that you’ll pass it without even studying”
“Thank you, but when the day of the test comes I just blank, I don’t know”
“Don’t worry so much about it and you’ll do good”
“I’ll try” I answered, we watched a movie and by the time the movie ended it was time for him to go.
“I’ll see you tomorrow” I said as I walked him out to his car. “Do I have to take my car tomorrow”
“Yeah, I’m sorry about that”
“It’s ok, no big deal” I smiled “Will I see you before you leave?”
“Yeah, the guys are driving me to the airport, my plane doesn’t leave like at three thirty”
