Evgenia's (ev-gen-ee-yuh not ev-jen-ee-uh) POV
"Fine, it's true. Whatever, you win again." He shrugged his massive shoulders and flipped through the channels.
"Talk sporty to me." I told him, throwing a piece of my soft pretzel at him.
"Um, well it looks like if the Dukes lose tomorrow they're out of it."
"Seriously?!" I yelled, crossing my arms. "Are you kidding me? First the Emperors, then the Grizzlies, and now the Dukes are at the end of a rope."
"The rope." Sidney corrected me. "And since when are you a Grizzlies fan? They took us out last year."
"I know. I'm a Grizzlies fan only if they're up against the Whales. You don't eliminate my Emperors and get my dedication." I knitted my eyebrows together as Sid laughed at me.
"You're such a dork, Gena." He laughed.
"Do not call me a whale penis." I fired back as Sidney threw back the pretzel piece.
"No need to attempt assassinating me with food now." He laughed again. "Come here." Sidney held out his arms to me and I poked his forehead before sitting closer to him.
"I hate you so much." I giggled, kissing his cheek impulsively from the alcohol tickling my veins.
"Whoa, what the hell?" he smirked. "What was that?"
I pulled away, still laughing. "Friendly."
"Didn't feel too friendly." He shoved a french fry through my hair as I tackled him.
...
"Why the hell do you watch this team, Gena? They suck!" Sidney proclaimed, pointing at the scoreboard bearing the infernal numbers, 4-0.
"Because I grew up with them," I said stubbornly, ignoring his smirk as I switched the TV off.
"I'd hate to be obliged to be a Nationals fan just because I've been around them for a long time."
"I've known you since like, 7th grade, so..." I snapped back.
"Shots fired." Sidney booes. I nod and smirk.
"I am tired. Please teleport me to a land full of mattresses and blankets and pillows." He says and I giggle. "Gena, can I stay another night here? I don't feel like driving back to my house." I punch his arm lightly and smile.
"Well, you do live less than a mile away, so I'm not going to make your travel that great of a distance in your luxury automobile at this hour. Also, we're both over the legal limit, so I can pull out that mattress in the couch for you and let you crash there. How's your jaw, do you still need an extra pillow for it?"
I gently take Sidney's masculine jawline in my hand and rub my thumb over the area that had been broken from when he got cracked in the mouth a month ago while playing hockey.
His deep brown eyes softened at my touch. Sidney watched my small hand around his chin for a moment before he took my hand away from his face, holding it for a moment and shaking his head. "No, I think I'm good." He slurs. I nodded; although I disagreed with him, the man knew his injuries much better than I.
"I'll leave you with something just in case, okay?"
Twenty minutes later, Sidney and I had set up the small bed in the spare bedroom, which I had made into a library since I lived alone. I tossed him a folded up blanket, since it was April I still felt the need to have a halfway decent blanket- especially in my 70 degree home. He flapped the blanket over the mattress before stretching his huge arms out to hug me. I walked over to him and draped my arms under his shoulders and smiled as he kissed my cheek. "Friendly." He giggled.
"Friendly." My smile widened as he squeezed me tightly before letting go. "Night, Sid."
"Goodnight, my Gena." He said drunkenly as I closed the door behind me. I couldn't suppress the giddy feeling in my stomach when he called me his Gena. I laugh to myself and stumble across the hall into my bedroom, alcohol masking my coherence.
(Updated) Author's Note:
So this is it, the intro chapter to "First". At the time I am rewriting this author's note (a FOURTH time), the story is over a year old and has over two thousand reads (last time I edited this, it was about 150). I am NOT sorry for all the sports references. In real life I am a huge sports fan and i couldn't help describing Evgenia as myself.
Yes- Evgenia is the female version of "Evgeni", which is Russian for Eugene. Evgenis usually are called Geno. Do the math. Sidney Martin, the other main character and Gena's apparent bestie is portrayed by Sidney Crosby- the supercute heartthrob penguins captain that's kinda wussy but he's my babe and I love him. Evgeni Malkin is the alternate captain who looks a bit like Sid and is also beautiful and talented and I also love him more than life. I kinda based Gena off of him. (But not romantically. That'd just be a tad awkward.)
Note that "First" Sidney is not the same as the real Sidney Crosby. I realized that the first chapter would have made a bit of an issue with that so I just changed the last names and now it's all good. I originally had the actual sports names in there for the hockey season but I changed it since First Sidney can't also be Penguins Sidney since he is the captain and he would be watching himself on TV and it would be an alternate universe paradox thing.
Please vote/comment/give me mature feedback.
Also, Wattpad rated the story "Mature" just from all the minor curses in the first chapter (most of which have now been edited out) so if you or a friend are struggling to find it just go directly to my page and find it from there.
