The song for this half of the chapter is “I Wonder Why” by Dion and the Belmonts. It’s an oldie but it fits the chapter xxx This chapter is like hella long so it should make up for the long wait. :/
Gena’s POV
When I wake up, it’s still dark out. My clock reads 4:23 and I roll over in bed, grabbing my phone from my bedside table. I click the home button and scroll through my notifications. It’s mostly social media and a few emails. A text from Sidney arrived at 4:04.
Thought you’d be awake at some crazy hour like this so I set an alarm just to text you good morning. :-) I feel bad that I can’t see the cute smile this text hopefully puts on your adorable face. I’m going back to sleep until a reasonable hour lol but if you need me just call. Stay beautiful xx
The text immediately puts a gigantic grin on my face as soon as I see his name on my screen. I toss my phone into a pile of pillows and cover my face with my hands, mentally screaming because of how sweet Sidney was. After a bit of browsing on my phone, I finally gather the strength to get out of bed and tackle the day. I brush and braid my hair and pick out a lazy day outfit. I’m trudging around the kitchen, looking for something to eat for breakfast when my phone buzzes. I ignore it until I manage a decent breakfast, and once I’ve plopped down at the table with a bowl of cereal and a banana, I pick up my cell and check the message. It’s another one from Sidney.
Ugh forget it I’m just going to stay up I can’t go back to sleep anyways when you’re on my mind.
Wake up Gena!!!!!!!!
I laugh and nibble at my breakfast while responding.
I’m awake, and have been for like an hour already. Why so antsy?
I’m halfway through the banana when he answers.
I can’t sleep when I know I finally made you mine. :-) :-)
I reply with a smiley face and finish my breakfast before telling him I’m going for my daily run and I can’t text.
Drop by mine, I’ll be ready and I’ll join you. c:
He writes, and I smile again, heading back to my bedroom to change into my exercise clothes.
It’s 5:38 when I place my headphones in my ears and lock my apartment. The sun is poking through the horizon, and the air is crisp and cool. The dew on the grass squeaks beneath my sneakers as I make my way out of the complex and towards Sidney’s house.
Oh, I wonder-wonder who. Who wrote the book of love?
I pass by an apartment unit with trash all over the patio and loud music rattling the walls. I wrinkle my nose at the smell of garbage and cigarettes. People like that were the main reason I couldn’t wait until I could afford a house and wouldn’t have to live near trashy people like that.
Sidney’s house comes into view and I feel my step lighten with each stride as I approach his place. His house is the only one on that side of the street with lights in the windows. I smile as I take in the morning air, and before I know it I’m in his driveway. I pull one earphone out and walk up his steps, knocking on the heavy wood door. In seconds he swings it open, and a small smirk appears on his face when he sees me. He’s decked out in a plain black t-shirt and red basketball shorts. I pull him into a hug and kiss his cheek.
I’ve waited for your kisses, for so long…
“Hiya.” He says.
“Hello yourself.” I laugh and he smiles.
