THE VERY NEXT DAYI called up Stacey in the morning to invite her to be my maid of honour.
"Will you be my maid of honour?", I asked on the phone. We were in a hurry. We both were late for our respective office but we always picked up each other's call (an old habit of ours). "YYYYEEESS!!!! I would love to be" she shouted on the phone.
"OKAY! See you later, babe!" I said and I hung up, late for work.
After reaching the office, I received a warm welcome from everyone. After all, it was my first day after the whole accident and they all knew what had happened and they also knew about the wedding.
A warm welcome, with some flowers, and chocolates and many get well soon and congratulations card on my desk, was really heart warming for me. I was about to shed my tears.
"Kyra! In my office now!" My boss Will said.
"Yes sir?" I replied in a haste feeling like I am back.
"So, everything is over, get back to work. ASAP I want those file in 2 days on my desk. You can leave now." He said and started concentrating on his desk. He might be looking at some important files, or wedding decorations. I heard his son is also getting married soon.
I took an about turn and started moving out, "congratulations! Now leave!" He said again.
A smile came across my face. "Thank you, sir" I replied and I stepped out of his office.
I cleaned up my desk first, putting old flowers in dustbin, keeping all the cards in the drawer, so I can take them back home, and new flowers arranged in a beautiful manner around the desk.
I opened the files, too much work after so many relaxing days, I thought to myself. But I have to complete them anyhow. "Aah! This work is frustrating, I need a coffee!"
I stood to get some more coffee and the clerk dropped off more files on my desk, so instead I asked him to get 2 cups of coffee.
He brought me two delicious cups and once I finished one, I got the strength to start working on my file. I did not even realise, when it was lunch time. I had completed 1/4th of my work and 2 coffees down.
I got up for lunch. I took a huge cheese burger with fries and coke. This work got me so hungry, hungrier than I usually feel.
Finally, the day ended at the office and so did my 1/2 work, which I was proud of, calling it a successful day a new success.
I returned home, Ben was already there. "How come you are early?" I asked.
"I got in early, thought I could make you dinner." He said, while cutting onions. He was tearing up while cutting the onions, so cute. I kept my bag and hung my coat on the hanger, changed into something comfortable, and came out to help him.
He was done with the onions, now onto tomatoes. "What are you making?" I asked as I ate a boiled bean.
"Indian, jeera rice and chhola." He replied. "Are you serious?! It is my favourite!" I said as I looked at the recipe on his tabloid. I hugged him and started helping him out. I cleaned the rice and put them on the heat to boil, while adding some spices, written in the recipe.
He took out a big casserole, added oil, garlic, cooked it, well I am not going to explain the whole recipe, let us just say, we followed the recipe.
The rice was done, but the curry was still on the heat. I started making up the table, a special touch, some flowers petals that I got today and a candle, which I took from the drawer.
He brought out the casserole, surprised my the table setup. He was happy, I guess. He kept the casserole on the table, we both sat down, after I lit the candle.
We poured the curry and the rice and began to eat. "It is tasty!" I said and he was happy with his cooking too. "We need to talk." He said.
"I know what you want to say. It is about the wedding. Stacey and I have already decided upon everything, from our childhood, just a little variance and I am all done. I am going for the cake tomorrow, you have to come." I replied enthusiastically.
"I.....I.....I will come." He said and started eating again, maybe he was thinking something, something about office, but i decided to ignore it and focus on my delicious meal.
We finished off with our dinner, put the dishes in the dishwasher, and kept the leftovers in the fridge, we stood nearby our counter sipping wine (finally I can drink some).
"Have you heard of that wedding planner? Veni, her name is." I said.
"I heard her work is good." He replied to my sentence.
"So should we hire her or talk to her for her ideas?" i said. "Perfect! We will go meet her up tomorrow then during lunch break." He said in a positive response.
I was happy with all the details I had worked on. I took out that file, filled with my wedding dreams. I smiled while I made the bed perfect for us to sleep in.
We slipped inside the sheets. His hands, strong hands under my neck and took the opportunity to put my head on his chest, take in his fragrance.
I never got to know when I fell asleep, so wonderful, so warm, the best feeling .
