DAHLIA
"Where can I go to release my excess water intake?"
That question took me like three minutes to ponder on, until I got what the boy -which I've never seen before, might I add- was trying to ask. They renovated the school recently, so everywhere is unfamiliar to some people.
"Take the stairs over there, and you'll see signs leading to the bathroom." I point over to the direction and he nods, his thick glasses bobbing up and down.
"Thank you. I'm Nathan." He smiles, and it shows off his dimples, making him seem so much cuter than he was before.
"I'm Dahlia. But my friends call me Lia. So you can, too. I've never seen you around here before, though."
He chuckles and scratches the sides of his head. "Same reaction I get from everybody. Today a guy in my class today asked if I was new and we've been in the same class for two years. It was so embarrassing. I think I need to get out more."
I take a better look at him and find that he's indeed cute. He has golden brown short hair and he has freckles on each side of his cheek that you'll really see if you look closer. His nose is slightly pointed and his lips are also slightly pink. I decide to say something before he thinks I'm creepy because right now I'm just full on staring at him.
"Well, I think you do. To make more friends, you should try saying 'Where's the bathroom?' in the future." This makes us both start to chuckle and then the bell rings.
"Well, now I got to go. See you around?" He asks and I nod.
After he leaves, I take a deep breath and walk to my locker, pretty happy that I'm having a free period. I get there to see a certain person trying to open it.
"What do you want, Kiara?" I throw the question and she stops her movements. She turns slowly, and I place my hands on my waist to show fake anger.
"Hey love. How's it going?" She giggles nervously and I can't hold my laughter anymore. Her expression is genuinely a mixture of fright and anxiety. She knows I can't do anything to hurt her, but she knows I can steal her fries when she isn't looking.
"It's going good, Ki. So what're you doing? You know, trying to break into my locker."
"Okay fine. I needed to take the nutella in your locker! I have a free period and I thought you were having a class so I decided to borrow your jar."
I shake my head. "Tsk, tsk. Unfortunately for you my sweet Ki, I also have a free period. So you have to wait till I feel like sharing. Which is probably never."
She groans and I have to do everything I can not to laugh. I'll still give it to her, because no matter what, she's my best friend, and I would do anything for her.
"How's Richard, though?" This earns me a smile from her almost immediately and I can't hold myself back from smiling too. He makes her so happy. I've never actually liked the guy, but he treats Kiara right. That's all I want for her, to be honest.
"He's fine. We're fine. Everything's fine. Our one year anniversary is today actually. He hasn't said anything yet, but knowing Richard, he's planning something." She says dreamily and we start to squeal.
Having a boyfriend is something I've never thought of doing; it's a waste of time to me, because somebody's gonna get their heart broken later. I'm trying to save myself that type of pain. I'm very emotional and something like that could affect me for a long time.
"Well I'm happy. Who knew Kiara could keep anything at all for a year?" I tease her and she laughs. Like only Kiara can.

Eventually, the whole jar of nutella finished in the janitor's closet. A lot of spoon clinking and fighting, and it ended up with me getting an injury on my hand. Kiara and I have twenty minutes to get bandages, before classes begin again.
"Is your hand fine?"
"Yeah, I love injuries so much, Ki." I reply with my best sarcastic tone yet. This results in her rolling her eyes, but soon she asks again.
"I swear I'm fine. Just hope Senuri and Shanae don't hear that you injured me because of nutella." I laugh at her expression.
Senuri and Shanae are twin sisters, and they're my close friends. They're socially awkward, but they found a way to hit it off with Kiara and I.
"Technically, I didn't cause any injuries, the jar did. Different thing."
"Nuh uh, same thing." We stop walking because we're in front of the nurse's office aka, the clinic.
But I don't knock, because I can hear two people talking and a voice sounds extremely familiar.
"Won't you enter?" Kiara says and I shush her. I step closer to the sound of the voices and she follows behind me.
What I see shocks me. Richard and Carla Jennings.
"But you have a girlfriend, this isn't right." Carla says, trying to step back. But Richard holds her.
"Yes, I'll break up with her for you. I really like you, don't you get that? I can't fight the feelings any longer, Carla." He declares and places his mouth on hers.
Kiara softly gasps, and when I turn to look at her, I see tears dropping down her face.
