SEVEN - Assignment
Sayoko and Kise are currently at the nurses' office fifteen minutes after the first class started. Their homeroom teachers might be done checking their class attendances, but that wasn't an issue. Kise has informed both their teachers about Sayoko's condition and are excused for the meantime. He gave her homework to Kuroko to pass on their next classes. Kise also brought Sayoko's belongings to the nurses' office. As usual, the girls had either the look of admiration or jealously plastered on their faces as Kise packed up Sayoko's things.
The nurses have placed ice over the injury to reduce the pain. They also taped it to prevent from any more damage. They wanted to send her home and let her rest in accordance to what the doctor back at the hospital said. She is to be picked up by her relatives; but because of the fact that she lives alone, it was a problem. Someone, like a classmate or a friend, should accompany her to her house. For the meantime, they advised her to stay at the clinic for the entire day.
After the treatment, both of them stayed in the poorly-lit room. Kise sat down on a chair that was beside the bed Sayoko was sitting up. Her leg has been fixed to be stationary, removing her ability to get out of bed. Silence drifted to the scene and filled the entire room, but no one dared to break its shackles, lest it would bring consequences.
This scene lasted for a little while, until the raven-haired councilor cleared her throat, which caught the attention of the blond model.
"So..." she started to say. A few seconds then passed but it was still silent, as she tried to find words to say. "A-are you okay with you being here? I mean, classes are ongoing and you don't have to watch over me..."
"Well, I asked permission so it's okay for me to stay here. Besides, homeroom is really boring. I bet Murasakibaracchi would be sleeping by now," he simply responded. This made Sayoko giggle a little.
"Also, who would protect you when you're in danger?" Kise added.
"Huh?" Sayoko asked, puzzled with what the blond said. "The nurses will be here so I don't think anything bad would happen to me."
"But, what if an earthquake happens and the nurses couldn't carry you? Or, what if a bad man comes in from the window and gets you..." he said and made a scary face, trying to scare off the councilor, but obviously failed.
She looked at him with a deadpan expression and said in a monotonous voice, "Kise, I'm underweight. You should know that very well because you've carried me twice." She looked at him as she watched him forcing a laugh. "Also, we're at the second floor, meters away from the ground and no person could climb up from here. I could also defend myself if needed."
"But, you're injured— you won't be able to fight him well."
"I told you, I'll be fine..." she insisted. “Just go back to your classes, you need it."
And, as if on cue, they heard a creaking sound at the other side of the room. The two looked to the direction of the door. They saw no other than the Student Council President, Akashi Seijuro. He had folders on his arms and walked towards the councilor and the model.
"Hey Akashicchi~" Kise gave a flamboyant greeting to the red-headed captain. He returned the gesture with a simple nod, and turned to his councilor.
“Akashicchi, what are you doing here?” Kise asked. “Classes are still going on…”
“I got permission from the teacher to visit the clinic for a while. I believe that this matter needs to be discussed now since we don’t have practices for today,” Akashi responded.
