CHAPTER TWO – Reintroduction
Unfortunately, the same issue has been reenacted every single day, at the same hallway, with the same man causing the exact same kind of trouble. And the same person was assigned to solve the same old problem every single time.
She would always do the same routine everyday – starting off with finding her way into the crowd, calling everyone’s attention and telling them to go to their classes or to leave the school at once. She then turns to the man who caused the problem and tells him off; threatening of what Akashi would do to him. Kise would always wear the same earring to school, and she would confiscate it. He’d usually complain but eventually surrenders the item, taking it back at the end of the day before practice.
This kind of thing occured every single day, but no other interaction has been done between them for the rest of the day. Kise never knew the girl’s name. He only knew her as the Councilor of Peace and Security who would save him from all his fangirls.
As much as he tried, he told them about not creating a ruckus at school, but they wouldn’t listen. He wanted to publicly tell them off, but his manager would insist that he give what they want to increase his popularity even more. It also wasn’t in his nature to reject a girl – even though he was already getting sick and tired of it. His only ticket out was to wait for this girl to save him and be free.
What made him wonder is that she would always confiscate his earring, and would give it at the end of the day. There were no other interactions between them besides the statement “Don’t ever make this mistake again, or you’ll suffer the consequences” afterwards. Making this violation three times would call for suspension. They’ve been at it for almost two weeks now and he’s still not receiving any form of punishment from the school or from Akashi. He thought that she was going soft against him. This made him become interested in this mystery girl.
During practice, he decided to approach Akashi, the captain of their team, and ask about this girl. He never liked her in a way; he was just interested.
They were given a ten-minute break, and so Kise approached Akashi who was drinking from his water bottle, constantly eyeing a girl at the bleachers. He casually sat down beside the red-haired male and tried to initiate talk, being as cheeky and casual as possible.
“Hey, Akashicchi~ who’s the girl?” he asked in his jolly voice, wiping the sweat off his neck.
“She’s Rio Shinohara,” Akashi responded after drinking, sealing the opening of the bottle. “I’ve introduced her a while ago.”
“I think she likes you…” Kise said, swooning. “You should ask her out.”
“Are you saying that I don’t know that, Ryouta?” he replied, with hostility in his voice. This made Kise shiver in fear. No wonder he’s captain and president; he’s a monster, he thought.
“I’m sorry…” he said, hiding his face in his towel.
“I simply want to take it slow,” Akashi responded. “It’s the best thing to do with her.”
“I see,” Kise replied, patting Akashi in the back. “Good luck with that.”
“And you,” Akashi said sternly. “I know that you didn’t approach me for just that… Spit it out.”
