FOURTEEN – Winner
Sayoko spoke curses under her breath as she ran towards a certain sports complex in Tokyo. It was where Teiko High’s first elimination round was happening.
She recalls the day he asked, or rather, forced her to watch their Interhigh matches. She missed a shot which made her do so. Not taking Kise seriously, she challenges the blond basketball player to his rules.
“What if I don’t go there?” she asked Kise, who was surprised by the abrupt question.
“Then I won’t forgive you…” he immediately responded.
“When did it matter that you don’t forgive me?” she lashed back once more.
“Sayoko Kasumi is a girl of her word. Once she agrees to a deal, she will not back down and comply to it with all certainty and honesty,” Kise announced to the entire gymnasium, for everyone to hear. The rookies from the other side of the court stopped their practices as they heard him.
He plays a cocky grin on his face as he pulled her closer. He leans down and whispers into her ear, “That’s what you said, Sayokocchi.”
“I’m not entirely convinced,” Sayoko stated, forcing to stand her ground. She takes off the silver earring that he was wearing. Again. “Seriously why do you like wearing these? Are you gay or something?”
“I’m not, okay?” Kise irritatingly said. “I’ll prove it to you…”
“How?”
“If you don’t watch our games, I’ll give you a kiss. Per game,” Kise challenged her. Sayoko simply raised an eyebrow.
---
She brushed it off, saying that it was a weak threat. She couldn’t believe that he would stoop so low. Nevertheless, she agrees to that deal. She tells herself that she wouldn’t lose anything for going. She wouldn’t lose anything for not going either. It seems like an unknown force was telling her to do so.
Was she really affected by the threat? It was crystal clear to her that it was something that should not be taken seriously. Yet she couldn’t take her mind off of it.
Sayoko enters the sports complex. She looks around and sees that Teiko High and their opponents warming up on the court. She tries to look for Kise, who was doing layups at that time. As he retrieves his own ball, he sees the raven-haired teen and gives a cheery greeting. He then points as to where their bench is. She did not give any acknowledgement and instead goes straight for the bleachers.
She arrives around the audience area and sees an empty seat directly below the Teiko High team. At one particular seat, she sees a piece of paper with her name on it along with a plastic bag. She takes the seat, places the bags at her lap and reads the small note that came along with it:
Sayokocchi,
Here’s some snacks so that you don’t have to stand up and miss a second of me. Thanks for coming here to watch me! (´∀`)♡
xoxo
She rolls her eyes and keeps the note in her bag. She takes her clipboard as well, trying to see if she could wok while the game was ongoing.
“Sayokocchi!” her peace was disturbed when a certain blond shouts her name. Probably most of the people in the gymnasium heard it. She wanted to bow her head down and pretend that it was not her instead she looks down to the idiot who has no shame whatsoever.
