EIGHTEEN – Defend
Another long day has passed, and Sayoko was glad for it to be done. She had to decode barely readable language and add it to the latest set of rules and regulations. Since lately, a lot of girls loved to drench her wet along with her documents; she had to reproduce them again. This made her work twice as harder than it used to be.
She was also glad to the fact that she had to go home at around 9 in the evening, which meant that there is a highly lesser chance for them to ambush her with water or anything else.
Kise sent the details to their final game to her this afternoon, and she was rather thrilled to go. She knew that they would win anyway, but she wanted to watch them do so. However, Akashi sent her a text message a few minutes later that she needed to help one of the councilors on their part of the rules. He was recently appointed, after Akashi impeached the one who badmouthed Kise. He was competent enough, but the fact that he is new meant that he knew very little of the job. He said that he wanted to do it this weekend, which meant that she might not see them play.
She told Kise about this in a text message. He replied rather positively, saying that it was alright and that she wouldn’t get punished by it. However, she felt bad about it. He might have had said it that way, but she felt that he typed that in while trying to hold back tears.
The female councilor brings the jacket closer to her body. She takes a deep breath, trying to think of a way to help the newly-appointed councilor, and at the same time watch their game.

Days have come and gone, and the final game for the Interhigh is drawing near. Akashi had made a letter to the faculty board excusing the starters from their classes for the next few days. It was then approved, which meant that they could practice without worrying their class standing.
In this practice session, the Generation of Miracles together with Kuroko is split into two teams. The first team consisted of Akashi, Midorima and Murasakibara; and the second team composed of Aomine, Kise and Kuroko.
Aomine’s team had ball possession. Aomine, who was being double-teammed, passed the ball to Kuroko. The ball, which seemed to go out-of-bounds, hauntingly made itself bounce back to court and was going straight for Kise. The blond, who was in shock, was still able to catch the ball with one hand.
As he was about to shoot, the ball seemed to slip out of his hands. It took him moments to realize that it was now in Midorima’s possession. The green-haired shooter took the ball in his hands and made a high-arc shot, which expectedly, went to the other team’s basket.
Akashi holds his right hand up, signaling the blow of the whistle. All players in the court looked at their team captain, clinging to every word that he says. “Take five,” he announces, and every one of them proceeded to the bleachers.
“Ki-chan, is there something wrong with you?” Their pink-haired manager approaches Kise. She looked at him with a concerned look, something that Kise was slightly annoyed with.
“I’m fine, Momocchi,” he replied. “Why do you think I’m not?”
“Akashi-kun’s team stole the ball from you four times today,” Kuroko informed, taking a huge gulp from his water bottle.
“W-what?” Kise continued to look confused. “There’s nothing wrong about me. Let’s go for one more round and I’ll show you all!”
“I don’t want to lose anymore today!” Aomine added. His hands in fists were raised up in the air, ready to punch Kise at any time.
