FOUR – Dinner

“Sayokocchi~”

The raven-haired girl turned towards the direction of the voice, seeing Kise running towards her. He was wearing the standard Teiko High uniform that consisted of a light blue long-sleeved polo topped with a white blazer with the school’s insignia on the right breast pocket, a black necktie done loosely, dark pants and the standard white shoes. As he was going up the bleachers, she immediately closed the huge notebook that was on her lap and quickly placed it in her bag.

“What was that?” Kise asked, tilting his head as he saw Sayoko zip her bag shut.

“It’s none of your business,” Sayoko snapped. “Shall we go?”

Kise simply gave a quick nod and took the strap of Sayoko’s bag. As she saw that, she immediately yanked it out of his hands and hung it on her shoulder. “What the heck do you think you’re doing?” she asked.

“Hmm? I’m carrying your bag for you,” Kise replied, and seemed to be utterly confused. “Isn’t that the way it’s supposed to go, Sayokocchi?”

She adjusted the strap to her shoulder, holding them tightly. “What? Who taught you that?”

Sayoko eyed the blond. His eyes were just staring at her, confused of what’s happening around him. It seemed that he thought he did something wrong again, which is not really the issue here.

“Have you ever hung out with a girl?” she asked, standing up from the bleachers.

“Are my fangirls included?”

“No.”

“Are my sisters included?”

“Wait, you have sisters?”

Kise let out a sheepish smile, and scratched the back of his head. “Well, I have two older sisters, but I rarely see them since they’re always travelling. One of them actually got me the job to be a model.”

“Hmm… Is that so? No wonder you act like a brat,” Sayoko commented, and started to walk towards the exit.

“Wah… So mean~”

“Ah, my sisters are really nice people, Sayokocchi. It’s just a drag that they could only visit me at least once a year. I wish you could meet them,” Kise said, a hint of excitement mixed in his voice. The two are now out of the campus, listlessly walking around town to look for a place to eat.

“How about you, Sayokocchi? Do you have any siblings?” Kise asked. "Can you tell me something about yourself?"

“Hmm? Well, I’m an only child, so there’s nothing much going on with my life. I know there’s nothing interesting in my life for you to know,” Sayoko coldly responded.

“Eh? I told you something about myself, so why can’t you?” Kise protested.

“It’s because I’m not obligated to,” she simply replied. “What do you think this is, a give-and-take?”

“Come on… I don’t know anything about you~”

“My life’s not that interesting anyway…” she sighed, trying to ignore the rants of the male beside her.

“Could you at least let me see your sketchbook?” he said in the most domestic way possible.

“What? I don’t have a sketchbook…” Sayoko retorted, trying her best not to stutter. She walked faster, leaving Kise a few meters behind her.
