"Rise and Shine Sam!" A voice shouted. "It's time to wake up! First day in college, better hurry up or you'll run out of time to prepare."
"Maddie? What are you doing here? It's still so early." I complained, trying to get back to sleep.
"Your mom let me in! Well, one of your maids did, but she was there. She was on her way out, but she greeted me and asked me to stay with you for breakfast! After all these years, I've only seen her twice, and she finally remembered my name!" Maddie exclaimed.
"That was just my mother Maddie, you sound like you just interacted with some kind of celebrity." I stated.
"Duh. She is. She's Evangeline Valderrama Del Rey. She's kind of a big deal, and so are you." Maddie claimed. "Now, you better wake up or you'll miss breakfast."
"Breakfast from now on, is served on bed, it's my new school day rules."
"Fancy, but you do know that it's already 7:30?" Maddie hinted.
"What?!" I immediately checked the time on my phone. "I only have an have an hour left to prepare for my meeting with the Dean?! Why didn't anyone wake me up?!"
"Actually, that's what I have been trying for the last 30 minutes! I told you if you wake up too late you'll run out of time to prepare." Maddie affirmed. Wait, you have a meeting with you school's Dean?"
Someone knocked on the door. "Ms. Samantha, your breakfast in be-"
"No time to talk about now it but yes! And thank you Marissa! Just leave it there. Could you check if the driver's already there? And could you please bring my bag downstairs? Also could you plug in my blower for me? Thank you so much!" I hurriedly ran to my bathroom and took a bath.
"Hurry up or I'll also eat your breakfast!" Maddie yelled.

"How do I look?" I asked Maddie.
"Gorgeous!" Maddie cheerfully complimented. "Good job on preparing! With 15 minutes to spare, not bad. Good thing Ellington's not that far from here." She added. "I love your yellow dress by the way! You are going to wear pink shoes to match that belt of yours?"
"More like pink platform heels, if I may say." I winked. "I just bought them yesterday!" I told Maddie.
"Love it!" Maddie exclaimed.
"Thanks! And thank you for seeing me before I go to school, you always did make me feel better. I'm still a little bit nervous though." I confessed.
"Of course!" Maddie answered. "Don't worry about it, Princess. Today is going to be awesome!"
I smiled and gave her a tight hug. I feel a lot better because Maddie's always there to make things seem easier. We're like sisters. We met on the fifth grade, and when we found out that she lives right next to our village, we've been best friends since then. We get along so well, I think it's possible that were actually related, not considering our looks. Her skin is very pale, nothing like mine, and her hair is brown like the color of her down turned eyes and she's taller than me, like most people are, unfortunately.
I do feel better, but that doesn't mean I'm not nervous anymore. I spent most of my time inside the car checking if my outfit and my make-up still looks as nice as it did this morning. It sounds pretty vain but I was always taught that people will always judge you by your looks. My mom and I weren't the only people who cared so much about looks, my dad always said, "To look good is to feel good." I guess money isn't the only thing they have in common, and it may be hard to admit, but vanity is one of the few things that we all have in common.
Just when I thought that the idea of first day of college is finally sinking in my system, the car stops and I my heart starts to pound crazy. My chauffeur opens door and I slowly step out of the car.
"Are you alright Ms. Samantha?" The chauffeur asked.
"Yes Ivan, just first day jitters." I smiled uncertainly.
"Well, the first step is the hardest, once you get through that, you'll have to continue." Ivan cheerfully advised.
I tried to respond to him with a more pleasant smile, took a deep breath and started to walk towards the campus.
